CU Basketball Ministry in Hungary In June 2003, Coach Ray Slagle led a men’s basketball MIS team to Hungary, Croatia, and Italy. The team participated in basketball competitions, clinics, and exhibitions as well as plenty of evangelism. While in Hungary, the team ministered with Jonathan ’90 and Lori Rogers Haskell ’90 , missionaries with the Association of Baptists for World Evangelism (ABWE). Jonathan shared, “We have never been prouder to be CU alumni than we were this weekend. The guys handled themselves with maturity and class at all times. They were a real encouragement to our church and ministry and a real blessing to our community. Most of all, I’m grateful for the way they interacted with my family. As soon as we got home Monday night, we had a little girl drawing pictures of seven new boyfriends. Ethan was busy responding to a note and gift that Tyler had left for him. And Justin, who hasn’t touched anything but a soccer ball for about four years, was out in the backyard shooting hoops. (He also went out yesterday and spent his birthday money on the kind of flip-flops all the guys were wearing.) Even the people at the hotel wanted to know when they were coming back. They aren’t the only ones who’d like to make this an annual event. We look forward to having them back any time.”
