Inspire, Fall/Winter 2010

overheard Cedarville University 9 My unit or hall would go pew-racing in the chapel . This consisted of army crawling under the pews and racing to be the first person to reach the stage. Christina Leonard ‘09, Dayton, Ohio I told myself that if I didn’t know the information by midnight before a test, I just wasn’t going to know it. Then, I stayed up late and had a blast with my friends . You could say I wasn’t a “strong” student. Jason Tovey ’00, Durham, North Carolina Before finals, I’d buy a big bag of Jelly Belly jelly beans and sort them according to flavor. I’d eat them throughout the week, getting rid of the black licorice ones first and saving my favorites — blueberry, watermelon, and juicy pear — for last. Richie Reeder ’07, Monroeville, Pennsylvania Back in the day, we organized residence hall lounge boxing matches to vent the stress of final exams. Steve Gruber ’74, Greenville, Ohio Everything is funnier when you’re over-tired and over- caffeinated. My roommate, Karie Kuster ’95, and I made anonymous calls to rooms all over campus and read random passages from the book Deep Thoughts . Carol Lee ’96, Cedarville, Ohio My roommates and I fired rotten fruits and vegetables down the street with a baseball bat and tennis racket, quickly becoming covered in the sticky spray. Thomas Hamilton ’05, Niceville, Florida My friends and I created a version of a giant Slip ’n Slide in the basement of Carr Hall. It was all fun and games until I took my turn and knocked someone down — he had to have surgery just days before commencement! Michael Dorsey ’00, Baltimore, Maryland Grabbing tennis balls and golf clubs, my friends and I would head outside to play NELF (night tennis golf). We created an 18-hole course around campus using light poles, fire hydrants, and trash cans to serve as cups and flagsticks. There were some intense par-5s and easy par-3s. Nevin Rosner ’10, Kansas City, Missouri Q uestion for the next issue : What is your favorite memory from the dining hall? Send your answer to Alumni Relations, 251 N.
