Emily Haney ’10 and Jake Kissel were married on October 9, 2010. Timothy Shumaker ’10 and Kathryn Krizo ’10 were married in May 2010. Timothy works at Birns and Sawyer Camera Rental House, and Kate has received her master’s degree in library and information science. They reside in the Los Angeles area. Brandon ’10 and Amanda (Cole) Tress ’08 announce the birth of Emma Grace on July 28, 2011. Amanda is the web marketing specialist at Cedarville, and Brandon is a financial analyst at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. In Memory We extend our condolences to the families and friends of these dear loved ones. Alumni Rev. Doris Hartman ’34 retired United Methodist minister and missionary, died in Amherst, Massachusetts, on July 4, 2011. Born in Cedarville, Ohio, she earned a master’s degree in Christian education from the Hartford Seminary Foundation. She was the first woman to receive full clergy rights in the Troy Annual Conference of the Methodist Church. After World War II she served as a short-term missionary in Japan, then returned full time after language school. During a furlough she earned a bachelor’s of divinity from Union Theological Seminary. During her next term in Japan she started a house church and a church school. When she retired in 1981, the church had become self-supporting and found a Japanese pastor. In 1993, she was honored with the Martin Luther King Citizen’s Award. In 2000, she published a book about her Japanese experience, titled My Life in Hiroshima 1952 –1981 . Doris was predeceased by her brother, Justin Hartman ’38 . She is survived by her brother, Neil Hartman ’41 , and his wife, Marian, her sister-in-law, Peggy Hartman, and several nieces and nephews. Beatrice McClellan ’39 of Xenia, Ohio, passed away January 30, 2011. She spent much of her life dedicated to missionary work. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Hazel (McClellan) Dafler ’37 and Ann (McClellan) Kelley ’41 . Bea is survived by her sister, Martha Stevenson, and numerous nieces and nephews. Geneva (Neal) Walker ’42 , longtime Cedarville resident, passed away at the age of 91 on June 5, 2011, in Bradenton, Florida. She was an elementary teacher for 32 years in Cedar Cliff Schools. Donations were made in her memory to the Cedarville Opera House Society. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Clyde Walker ’39 . Jesus reminded His followers that worrying about the future would not “add a single hour to your life” (Matt. 6:27). How do we discern between real threats to our security and so much hype?
