MI CLASS Nrws 30s Helen McKenzie Beason '38 and her husband,John, celebrated 50 years of marriage on December 1, 1995. Living in Xenia,Ohio, Helen is a retired teacher. John retired as assistant maintenance director for the Xenia Board of Education.The Beasons enjoy four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. 40s Edna Mae Miller Speirs'49N visited Cedarville College in the summer of 1995, while attending a church camp in Springfield, Ohio. Edna Mae attended Cedarville from 1945 to 1947,along with nineteen other women and one man. Completing her education degree at Anderson University in Indiana, Edna Mae was an elementary school teacher for 30 years. 50s Sandy Millikin Entner'59 shares from her 1959 yearbook that the class of 1959 began the tradition of painting the Cedarville College Rock. 60s Warren Allen'62N is pastor of First Baptist Church in Francesville,Indiana. Frank'68 and Barbara Lepine Jenista'70 live in the Philippines, where Frank is head of Cultural Affairs with the U.S. Embassy. His responsibilities involve education and the arts, as well as speech-writing for the ambassador. Frank was the point person for the 50th anniversary celebration of the liberation of the Philippines. Barb teaches fifth grade at Faith Academy and hasjoined the staff ofCampus Crusade. Daniel Stevens'69 is director of program development for Biola University in California. He assumed this position early in 1995, after completinF five years as director ofthe Ed.D. program at Biola s Talbot School ofTheology.In the past year,Dan taught Bible interpretation at a leadership development conference in Ukraine. He also taught integration of biblical thought and academic content to students in Biola University's cooperative program with Research Institute for Chnstian Educators(RICE)in Hong Kong.Dan and his wife,Sue(O'Shell'68),reside in Garden Grove, California. 70s Verna Jones Everett'71 lives in Kingsley, Pennsylvania with her husband and three children. The Everetts grow apples, and Verna teaches math and reading in elementary school. Bonnie Spears Domhoo'73 resides in Columbia Station, Ohio with her three daughters, Carrie(20), Jennifer(18), and Heather(16).A Mary Kay consultant for five years, Bonnie is a senior sales director and has earned three cars. Bonnie shares,"I look back at my four years at Cedarville as some of the happiest times in my life." JeffBowen'76 has been named to the Cedarville College board of trustees. He and his wife, Valerie (Van Compernoll'78), reside in Shamong.,New Jersey, where Jeff pastors Shawnee Baptist Church. Myron Youngman'76 is working as a consultant with an international executive placement firm in Hong Kong. He continues his ministry in China with The Kaifa Group. Mahlon Merchant'78 was recognized in 1994 with an award for advertising excellence at the Ohio Newspapers Classified Connection Conference.A classified sales representative for the Springfield News-Sun of Springfield, Ohio, Mahlon's creative spread for a local automobile dealer's anniversary celebration and sale was recognized for "Best Automotive Advertising." Mahlon's wife, Diane (Conrad '78),teaches communication arts at Cedarville College. Delmar Mohler'79 assumed responsibilities as chief financial officer and treasurer of Moody Bible Institute in January 1996. Del and his wife,Linda(Mayo'77N), live in Chesterton,Indiana. 80s Dale Christian'80 is pastor of ShoaffPark Baptist Church in Fort Wayne,Indiana. In October 1995,the church received an offering which paid off the church mortgage. Dale and his wife,Teresa,rejoice in God's provision! Steve Terlouw'80N holds a doctorate in animal science from the University of Missouri. He is technical manager of genetic improvement for Premium Standard Farms.Steve and his wife,Julie(Santen '81N),reside in Princeton, Missouri with their daughters, Karen(14), Laura(12),and Michelle(5). Jill Cramck Studebaker'81 is an adoption counselor at a Christian agency in Indiana. After completing a biology degree at Cedarville, Jill earned a master's i degree n counseling. She is especially thankful for Cedarville's strong stance on biblical inerrancy, as well as the godliness of the faculty she encountered. Jill's husband,Richard, is completing course work for a Ph.D. in historical theology from Trinity International University. The Studebakers live in Goshen,Indiana. Philip Cockrell'83serves as director of academic computing for Newberry College in South Carolina. He was named 1994-95 Professor ofthe Year by the Newberry College Student Government Association. Rhonda Coventry'83spent two weeks in Bryansk, Russia as part of a construction team from Highland Park Baptist Church in Southfield, Michigan.In August 1995,the group helped with the construction of a church. Teresa Heeney Estes'83 and her husband,Donald, have settled in Aravada,Colorado. Teresa owns and operates a licensed daycare business. Don is education coordinator for the American Animal Hospital Association.The Estes enjoy two children, Annemarie(9)and Jon-Michel(6). Susan Blake'86 attended McGeorge School ofLaw in Sacramento,California following her graduation from Cedarville. After three years in private practice,Sue became legislative consultant for California Senator K. Maurice Johannessen in December 1993.Some of her responsibilities include coordinating committee hearings, writing speeches, doing legal research, and analyzing upcoming bills. Sue shares,"I can honestly say that I love my job. My boss is a professing Christian who is truly dedicated to principle. A world traveler, she has spent time in Europe, Russia, Hong Kong,and southeast Asia. Settled in Sacramento, California,Sue attends Covenant Reformed Church. Laurie Briggs'86joined the law firm of Bricker& Eckler in Columbus,Ohio.A senior attorney in the firm's corporate department, Laurie received her law degree from the Notre Dame University School of Law in 1989. Ed Lanning'86 received his M.Div.from Baptist Bible Seminary(Clarks Summit,Pennsylvania)in May 1995. As associate pastor at Memorial Baptist Church in Columbus,Ohio, his specific responsibilites are in the areas of Christian education and family ministries. Ed and his wife,Jean(Pinkerton '87), have three children, James(5),Ryan(3),and Janelle(1). Ken Oliver'86 and his wife, Wilma Cardona-Ruiz,live in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where Ken serves in the administration of Governor Pedro Rosell6 as the commonwealth's assistant secretary of state for international exchange and technical cooperation. Ken's office is in charge of promoting international initiatives which contribute to Puerto Rico's capacity to compete successfully in a global environment,as well as fostering greater inter-American understanding, integration, and socio-economic development. Sherri Watson Smith'86 is director of Moody Institute ofScience at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago,Illinois. Her husband,John,continues to serve as associate pastor of First Baptist Church of Downers Grove.The Smiths look forward to returning to Cedarville for Homecoming 1996. David Bennett'87 is a financial consultant with Merrill Lynch in Columbus,Ohio. Scott Marsh'88 is finance/management information systems director for Buckeye Corrugated,Inc., which develops, designs, and manufactures graphics packaging and displays. Scott and his wife, Julia, reside in Canton,Ohio. Susan Martin Lane Memorial The memory of 1965 graduate Susan Martin Lane,who died of breast cancer in 1981, was honored in the Susan Martin Lane Memorial Golf Tournament on September 30, 1995. Sponsored by the Lane Foundation of Dallas,Texas,this first annual"Golffor the Cure"raised over $3,000 for breast cancer research. Susan's husband,Lloyd Lane'66, was inspired to join the fight against breast cancer after seeing a professional golfer on television with a pink ribbon pinned to his hat."The pink ribbon did exactly what it was supposed to do and more," he said."It reminded me and inspired me to assist in the fight against breast cancer." With the help offamily and friends, Lloyd incorporated the not-for-profit Lane Foundation and organized the golf tournament in just two months. The event was a success not only because of the funds raised, but because it brought family and friends together. All ofSusan's family attended the event,including her brother, Kirk Martin '76,ofSouth Charleston,Ohio and her daughters,Julie'92N and Kristine. Cedarville College friends Rich '63 and Martha Short Davidson'65N and Roger'64 and Ruth Johnson O'Bryon'65 also participated in the tournament. Lloyd Lane '66 presents a contribution to a representative of The Komen Foundation, whose mission is to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by advancing research, education, screening,and treatment. Christian Pilet'88 was ordained in August 1995 and is youth pastor at Temple Baptist Church in Portsmouth, Ohio.An accomplished violinist, Christian has studied at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and the Mannes College of Music in New York. He is presently working toward a master of divinity through Western Seminary in Oregon. Beatriz Moraes'89 attends the University of Dayton School ofLaw and resides in Beavercreek,Ohio. Stephen Panther'89 is in his third year of graduate studies at Central Washington University. He is pursuing a master's degree in choral conducting and a teaching certificate with an emphasis in theatre arts. 90s Jeff Czyzyk'90 is an inner-city youth director in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He is also pursuing a master's degree in English education from Grand Valley State University. Nancy Merkh Loose'90 and her husband,Don,reside in Pine Hill, New Jersey. Nancy is a computer support specialist with Techmatics,Inc. Nancy and Don are considering overseas missions opportunities. Alan Ashley '91 is a mathematician for a pension actuarial firm in New Jersey. His wife,Dotty (Thomas'90),is a certified public accountant.The Ashleys attend Hydewood Park Baptist Church, where Alan serves as president ofthe church's day care center and teaches an adult Sunday school class. Dotty teaches junior church and is the church financial secretary. Jamie Brown'91N is a legislative aide in Washington, D.C.for Senator Connie Mack of Florida. Christy Blackburn Brewster'92 is an independent contractor for Primerica Financial Services. Christy and her husband,David,reside in Dayton,Ohio. Lisa Zimmerman Miller'92N and her husband,Jon, reside in Halifax, Pennsylvania. Lisa has earned special education certification from Millersville University (PA)and is a teacher in the Susquenita School District. Jon works for the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. Daniel Reed '92 is ajob specialist with Lorain County Jobs for Ohio Graduates, helping high school seniors find career-centered jobs upon graduation. Dan and his wife, Roshanee,experienced the birth and death of their stillborn son,Cole Alexander,on November 25, 1995. David Richey'92 was licensed by the state of Ohio in May 1995 as a healthcare administrator. David is assistant administrator and director ofspecial projects at Meadowbrook Care Center in Cincinnati,Ohio.He also coachesjunior varsity basketball at Middletown Christian School. CliffRoop'92 is in his third year of teaching at Orange Christian Academy in Cleveland,Ohio. Cliffalso serves as athletic director for the school. Michael Wakefield'92 received a master of business administation in international business from the University ofToledo and is a marketing associate for Future Three Software,Inc. Michael and his wife, Bethany (Britt '92), recently moved to the Detroit, Michigan area. Bethany enjoys caring full-time for their 9-month-old daughter,Brittany. Shelly Brooker Ansiel'93 and her husband,Glenn,reside in South Lyon,Michigan with their daughters, Heidi(3)and Hillary (1). Shelly takes private voice lessons and sings in the Madonna University choir. She also teaches junior church and runs a day care out of their home. Glenn is a commercial lender with NBD Bank and a church deacon. Micah Mitchell'93 hasjoined the Cedarville College staff as a computer technician. Mark Roeder'93 is pursuing a master's degree in international affairs at the University of Dayton.In November 1995,he presented a paper at the annual conference of the Southern Political Science Association. Mark says,"I sincerely believe that the training I received at Cedarville prepared me well for graduate studies." Bruce Colbert'94 is a senior high Bible teacher at First Baptist Christian School in Elyria, Ohio. Matt Cutler'94 serves as communications director and district coordinator for State Senator Glenn Steil in Lansing, Michigan. Reid Gritsavage'94 is a cost accountant for Coca-Cola in Lansing,Michigan. Troy Hamilton'95 has been an apprentice with the Bob Tebow Evangelistic Association for six months. Working in the Philippines, Troy has had the opportunity to preach in schools, markets, mayors' offices, and remote mountain villages. He is grateful to God for all he is learning in the areas of church- planting, evangelism,and the training of national pastors and church leaders. Wayne Morgret'95 has settled in Berea,Ohio. Attending Berea Baptist Church,Wayne is studying to be a music minister. Mark Zuiderveen'95 is a video producer at EBI Video in Davenport,Iowa.EBI Video is owned by Jeff Lyle '85.
