Welicome Your New Alumni Council Representatives Each year the membership of the Cedarville College Alumni Association votes for two new members to represent them on the Alumni Council. In 1996,we welcome Dr. Richard Blumenstock'63 and Amy Young Womack'80 to the council. Richard Blumenstock'63 Richard earned his bachelor of arts in Bible from Cedarville College followed by a master of theology degree from Dallas Theological Seminary and a doctorate in ministry from Western Seminary. Dr. Blumenstock is assistant professor in the Department of Biblical Education at Cedarville College and enjoys interacting with college students. Already serving on the Alumni Council,Richard has eagerly taken on the responsibility of the Alumni Relations Committee and is active in recruiting your regional alumni representatives across the United States. His motivation and previous service on boards proved invaluable as the Alumni Council developed its purpose statement and project plans for 1996-97. Dr. Blumenstock has authored several books,including discipleship training manuals and a study of presuppositional evangelism. Richard and his wife, Helen,have three adult children—Janet, Rich,and Jim. Amy Young Womack'80 Amy graduated from Cedarville College with a bachelor of arts degree in biology.Today her involvement with her children and with the local chapter of Family and Community Educators allows her to share her love for the sciences and for learning. Amy serves as a member of the Alumni Relations Committee on the Alumni Council. Amy will also take on the responsibility of the Alumni Council Nominee Ad-Hoc Committee in May.She enjoys her involvement with Cedarville College and is looking forward to serving in a new capacity through the Alumni Council.Amy and her husband,Mark Womack'83,live in Cedarville and attend Grace Baptist Church, where they serve as senior high youth leaders. The Womacks have three daughters— Amber(11),Aubrey (8),and Alison (5). Foreman,Wimmer Complete Service On Alumni Council D r. Robert Foreman '77 and Stefanie Pratt Wimmer'85joined the Alumni Council in 1991. Quickly finding their niche on the council, both membersjumped into serving the Alumni Association wholeheartedly. During the December 1995 meeting, the Alumni Council bid farewell to Bob and Stefanie as they fulfilled their four-year terms on the council. Bob lent his skill to the Alumni Association by spearheading the development of the alumni survey and organizing the annual Los Angeles, California regional alumni gatherings since 1992. Bob is a professor of English at Pasadena City College and also enjoys guest lecturing at Cedarville College. He brings his expertise in African-American literature to campus several times throughout the year. As Bob completes his term on the Alumni Council,he looks forward to serving as the Cedarville College Regional Alumni Coordinator for the West Coast Region from his home in San Dimas,California. Stefanie served as secretary of the Alumni Council for three years of her four-year term. She also chaired the council's ad-hoc committee to nominate and elect your new Alumni Council representatives for the past three years. Stefanie and her husband,Alan,live in Fairborn, Ohio, where Alan attends Wright State University, and Stefanie works at Wright Patterson Air Force Base as a base supplies technician for national purchasing. As she completes her term on the Alumni Council,Stefanie looks forward to serving as one of the Cedarville College Regional Alumni Coordinators for the Heartland Region of Dayton,Ohio. Our thanks and appreciation are extended to Bob and Stefanie for your faithful service to the Cedarville College Alumni Association during the past four years! '75, The purpose of the Alumni Council is to advise the Director of Alumni Relations and to evaluate planned programs and projects as elected representatives of the Association members.The council members also serve to implement those actions on behalf of the Cedarville College Alumni Association membership. Alumni Council Projectsfor 1996-1997 1. The Alumni Relations Committee will implement the Regional Alumni Coordinator Program. 2. The Student Relations Committee will seek to increase the endowed principal of the Alumni Scholarship Fund and search for ways to involve Cedarville College faculty with the Alumni Association. 3. The Alumni Development Committee will seek to raise $1 million in the Alumni Drive for The Ministry Center Campaign and increase the endowed principal of the Alumni Scholarship Fund. Greetings,Alumni! T he construction of The Ministry Center is progressing rapidly, as is the capital campaign drive. I am excited to report that alumni response to the campaign has a strong beginning. As of February 29, you and your fellow alumni have contributed $278,414.This includes both leadership gifts and those gifts received from alumni since October 1995. This is a great start to what I expect will be the most successful alumni drive in the history of the College. The money which is raised for the new chapel, music facility, and Christian ministries facility will by far be the largest contribution ever made to a capital campaign by alumni. Our $1 million goal will be a mark which all of us will be pleased to have attained for generations to come. The Alumni Hall,the grand lobby area ofThe Ministry Center, is named to honor over 15,000 alumni who have graduated or attended Cedarville College since September 1894 when the college opened its doors to 32 students. Picture, if you will, walking through the door onto a floor of marble and granite and seeing before you a bronze College seal measuring five feet in diameter. Overhead, 14 stained glass windows will usher in the sunlight. The area will accommodate students, alumni,faculty, staff, and visitors on a daily basis. The artist's rendering featuring part of the area will give you a visual idea ofThe Alumni Hall. As you know,chapel is a focal point for the College and is one common reference for virtually every former,current, and future student. I can think of no other college experience which unites all of us regardless of class, age,or field ofstudy. Accordingly,there is no other cause which could draw upon all alumni.This became evident in December 1995 when your Alumni Council,composed of 10 graduates from 1963 to 1987,unanimously agreed to contribute a minimum of$10,000 to The Ministry Center Campaign. Furthermore,there will be 100% participation by your Alumni Council members. I hope that you will join the Council with your gift to The Ministry Center Campaign As ofFebruary 29, 1996,392 alumni have given an average gift of$326.00. Think of what would happen if all 10,000 members of the Cedarville College Alumni Association financially supported this worthy cause! Whether your gift be moderate, small,or large, your participation is vital to reaching the goal of$1 million. It is my hope that by meeting our goal,our alumni will serve the College in the same manner which Cedarville College has served and continues to serve her alumni. And that by doing so, the generations which will certainly follow will know ofour commitment and love for Cedarville College.
