A lumnotes CLASS NEWS 50s Virgil Brantley '51 was the recipient of the 1997 Clement G. Austria Community Service Award for his outstanding charity and volunteer work. He is well-known throughout the Xenia, Ohio community as the founder of Hospitality Homes and is active on the Golden Age Senior Citizen's Center board, as a member of the Greene County Historical Society, and most recently has worked to renovate Collins School. 60s Judy Siplock Awabdy'64 is correspondence coordinator for the Cedarville College Admissions Office. She and her husband, Abe, reside in Cedarville, Ohio. Ron McDugle'65 has served as pastor of First Baptist Church in Danville, Indiana for 25 years. Lloyd Lane'66 is president of The Lane Foundation, whose mission is "to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease through awareness and education." The foundation was named for Lloyd's wife, Susan (Martin '65), who died of breast cancer in 1981. Rich Davidson '63 serves as director for The Lane Foundation, and Paul McGrady'93 serves as secretary. Its third annual "Golf for the Cure" fund-raiser was held in September 1997 at the Eagle Creek Golf Club in Indianapolis, Indiana. He and his wife, Ruth (Hussey '67), reside in Xenia, Ohio. Cal'68 and Bobbi McInnes Biddle'68 reside in Petersburg, Indiana. Cal is principal of Pike County Middle School. 70s Luann Robb Nicholas'74 is circulation services manager for the Cedarville College Centennial Library. In January 1998,she received a Certificate of Recognition for Distinctive Service in recognition of pioneering efforts to develop an employment program for Circulation Services student staff. The program emphasizes leadership development, supervisory training, peer evaluation, and personal Christian growth. Luann and her husband, Dave'74, reside in Cedarville, Ohio. David Chapman'76 was recently appointed to the Ohio Association of Regular Baptist Churches(OARBC)Council of Twelve. David has served as pastor of Fostoria Baptist Church in Fostoria, Ohio since 1985. He and his wife, Linda, have three children, Brian, Mark, and Rebecca. Joe Kesler'77N is president of First National Bank in southern Illinois. Joe, his wife, Nancy, and their daughter, Sarah (2), reside in Carbondale, Illinois. Kim Gall'78 received her doctorate from The Ohio State University in August 1997. Her area of focus was teacher education in physical education. Kim is associate professor in the physical education department at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan and is the women's tennis coach. Rebekah Delancey Trittipoe'78 has co-authored the book, Quest for Adventure, which chronicles the experiences of record-setter David Horton during his running of the Appalachian Trail and the Trans-America Footrace. An avid distance runner herself, Rebekah ran the Mountain Masochist Trail Race in October 1997, a 50-mile trail race in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The first woman to finish, her time of 9:11:58 placed her 24th out of a field of 180 runners. In November 1997,she was the first woman to finish the JFK 50-Mile Race which begins in Boonsboro, Maryland and ends in Williamsport, Maryland. Her time of 7:44:10 is the 17th fastest time ever recorded by a woman in the 35-year history of the race. Rebekah and her husband, Gary '76, reside in Virginia and have two sons, Caleb(10)and Seth (6). Rebekah works as a cardiovascular perfusionist at Lynchburg General Hospital and is involved in music ministry at their local church. Terry McClellan '79 earned a master of ministry degree from Chesapeake Bible College. The McClellans live in Reading, Pennsylvania. 80s Michael Allen '80 has been named chief financial officer and treasurer at Lutheran Social Services of the Miami Valley. He provides support for the executive director in planning for and monitoring the business and financial success of the organization, which carries out its mission through 780 employees and nearly 1,000 volunteers. Mike previously served as vice president, controller for Huffy Service First. He and his wife, Linda, live in Tipp City, Ohio with their daughters, Jennifer(15)and Stephanie (11). Shirley Brown '81 is a business analyst at Seneca Foods. She resides in Henrietta, New York. Debbie Faken Shattuck '81 is a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force and has been selected to be a squadron commander at McChord Air Force Base in Tacoma, Washington. Debbie says,"Attending Cedarville really gave me a strong spiritual grounding that has stayed with me throughout my life. I pray often for the school in hopes that God will continue to use it to shape young lives." She and her husband, Cliff, have three children. Bill Buhrow'82 is a a licensed psychologist and the director of health and counseling services at George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon. He and his wife, Donna, have been married 12 years and have a daughter, Morgan (3). Teresa Heeney Estes'83 and her husband, Don, have moved to Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Teresa teaches elementary band and music classes, junior high chorus, and high school band and chorus. Don is distance learning coordinator at Western Nebraska Community College. The Estes have two children, Annemarie(11)and Jon-Michel(8). Lynne Sparks'83 is coordinator of community service and resident director of a leadership complex at Asbury College in Kentucky. Mike Morgan'84 completed a master of business administration degree in 1996 from Virginia Commonwealth University. He works in fleet operations with Overnight Transportation Co. Mike and his wife, Beth, live in Chesterfield, Virginia. The Morgans visited Cedarville College in November 1997. Steve Eisentrager'86 has been appointed senior vice president and chief financial officer for Mercy Health Systems-Western Ohio(MHS-WO). He joined Mercy in 1986 as a financial analyst. Steve also serves as member of the board of trustees for Mental Health Services for Clark County, Inc. He and his wife, Sharon, have two daughters, Kristen(6)and Alison (3). They are active at Southgate Baptist Church in Springfield, Ohio. Robert Jacobs'86 is a staff accountant for United Way Community Services in Detroit, Michigan. Jim Kohlmeyer'86 is pursuing a doctorate in accounting from University of South Florida in Tampa. Kelly Helmick'87 resides in St. Charles, Missouri. She teaches eighth grade math at Francis Howell Middle School. Jim Koerber'87 was ordained to the gospel ministry on November 9, 1997. Jim serves as associate pastor at Kossuth Street Baptist Church in Lafayette, Indiana. His specific areas of service are oversight of the Adult Bible Fellowship, evangelism, and assimilation of new church members. In May 1997, he received a master of divinity degree from Baptist Bible Seminary in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania. He and his wife, Michele, have two children, Jonathan (4)and Elizabeth (2). Gil McClanahan'88 is a reporter and substitute anchor with WCTI, an ABC affiliate in North Carolina. Bob Beikert'89 is minister of music and outreach at Calvary Baptist Church in Bellefontaine, Ohio. He and his wife, Sue (Scott '85), enjoy ministering together with their musical gifts. Jennifer Whittaker Madden'89 and her husband, Brian, reside in Reston, Virginia. Jennifer is a lending specialist with Cuna Mutual Insurance Co., and Brian is a software support specialist. Julia Gregory Miller '89 is budget coordinator for North American Skin Care in the Finance and Accounting Skin Care/Beauty Care Research and Development Group for Procter & Gamble in Cincinnati, Ohio. Julia and her husband,Tim, have two children, Marshall(4)and Taylor (1). The Millers reside in Loveland, Ohio and attend the First Baptist Church of Glen Este. Carol Wiggins'89 is involved in inner-city youth ministry in Baltimore, Maryland. 90s Raiceon Hawkins'90 is assistant director of management information systems with Complete Care Services in Horsham, Pennsylvania. The company manages and owns assisted living and full nursing facilities for the elderly. Todd '91 and Melanie Harty Bailey '91 have moved to Piqua, Ohio, where Todd is pastor at Hope Chapel. Todd Clemens'91 has been active in American Legion Baseball (ages 16-18)as a coach and now as a manager. In 1997, the Spring City Red Sox managed by Todd placed in the top 12 of almost 5,000 American Legion teams, coming within one win of a berth in the American Legion World Series. As noted in numerous newspaper articles, he is highly regarded as a manager who truly loves his players. Todd and his wife, Koren, reside in Limerick, Pennsylvania. Jeff'91 and Janna Ottaway Tague'91N are living in Plainfield, Indiana with their daughters, Rachael(5)and Sarah (3). Jeff is pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Plainfield. Judy Yost Alleman'92N and her husband, Duane, reside in Newville, Pennsylvania. Judy cores for their children, Cameron(3)and Darin (2), at home. Duane is a computer specialist with Highmark, Inc. Dallas Donley'92N received his bachelor of arts degree in political science from Northern Kentucky University in May 1997. Matt Moore'92 has joined the staff of Cedarville College CDR Radio Network as an announcer. Tamara Wymer McCammon'93 earned a master of divinity degree from Southwest Seminary (Ft. Worth, Texas) in December 1997. She and her husband, Chuck, now reside in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Brian Bolger'94 graduated from Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary in May 1997, earning the President's Award. He is working in the academic editorial department at Baker Book House. His wife, Gina (Kendig '93), works in the acquisitions/serials/systems department of the Cornerstone College library. Monte Detterman'94 is a math teacher at Marion Harding High School in Marion, Ohio. Matthew Goding'94 is a fiber technician with Gates Formed Fiber Products. He lives in Auburn, Maine. Matthew leads a small Bible study and the singles ministry at his local church. He also teaches junior church and a Sunday school class. Mike Pasquale'95 has completed a master's degree in linguistics from Michigan State University and is pursuing a doctorate. He is preparing to work in Bible translation, having already traveled to Peru and India with Bibles International. He and Cedarville graduate Monica Bolet '91 are planning a June 1998 wedding. Todd Entner'95 teaches academic writing to over two hundred post- graduate students at Beijing University in China. He and Dawn Merritt'96,who also teaches in China, will be married in August 1998. Chad '95 and Michelle Steinwyk Wingert'94 both work at Grace Academy in Clear Spring, Maryland. Chad is business manager and athletic director, and Michelle teaches fourth grade. Kristine Hoadley Kidder'96 is a medical/surgical nurse at Elliot Hospital in New Hampshire. Kristine and her husband, Dana, jointly teach the sixth grade Sunday school class at their local church and assist in the toddler nursery. Dana is assistant manager at Sanel's, an automotive parts supplier. Debbie Wong'96 has earned a master of accountancy degree from Virginia Tech. As an internal auditor at DuPont Co., Debbie is looking forward to traveling both nationally and internationally. Jennifer Ferris'97 is a pediatric nurse at Community Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia. Laura Glessner'97 teaches sixth grade at a Christian school in Tacoma, Washington. Steve Houg'97 is an assistant manager with Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. He resides in Indianola, Iowa. Chris Jones'97 is an operations engineer with Mars Electronics International. He is living in West Chester, Pennsylvania. Sharla Megilligan'97 teaches junior high and high school physical education, computers, and science at Santiago Christian School in the Dominican Republic. Doug Romaine'97 works in digital television technology in the marketing division of Lucent Technologies headquarters in Murray Hill, New Jersey. He also has an internship working with the youth and singles at Millington Baptist Church. Doug lives in North Plainfield, New Jersey. Mike Young'97 is working at J.D. Cloud Accounting in Cincinnati, Ohio. Two other alumni, Eric Binning'94 and Greg Edlund'97 work for the same firm. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Carmel and First Presbyterian Church of Monterey. We extend our sympathies to her family and friends. Rosezella Horner Haines'25 died November 16, 1997.She had made her home in Ft. Myers, Florida. After receiving her teaching certificate and graduating with a music degree, Rosezella married Elton Haines, who preceded her in death. She was a member of Faith Community United Methodist church for over 80 years and enjoyed singing in the choir. We extend our condolences to her family. James McMillan '28 died December 30, 1997. James was the manager of the Bath Township Herald, which later became The Fairborn Daily Herald. He was also active in the community as the president of a number of community organizations as well as an officer on the board of trustees for the Greene County Memorial Hospital. We extend our sympathies to his family and friends. Kathleen Miller Truesdale'36 died January 9, 1998 at the age of 80. Kathleen was a teacher for many years in Xenia, Ohio. Our deepest sympathy to her husband, Ralph, and family. Helen McKenzie Beason'38 of Xenia, Ohio, died June 1, 1997. Our sympathy extends to her family. Betty Shaw Puckett'38 died December 10, 1997 in London, Ohio at 81 years of age. Betty was a school teacher for 30 years in Clark and Madison counties. She was a deaconess, Sunday school teacher, and leader of the women's circle at the First Presbyterian Church of London where she had been a member for 50 years. Our sympathies are offered to her husband, Lawrence. William Yost'54 died January 25, 1998. We offer our heartfelt condolences to his wife, Janet, of Mill Hall, Pennsylvania and to his brother, Al Yost '58. Keith Coakley'58 died January 30, 1998. Keith attended the School for the Blind in Washington, Iowa before receiving his degree from Cedarville. We offer our sympathy to his many friends. Mary Brong Westphal'65 died November 18, 1997. Mary had been battling cancer for almost a year. Mary was a conference speaker and soloist, as well as a wife and mother. We extend our condolences to her husband, John, and her children, T.J. and Taleah. Robin Doan Chamberlain '86N died January 29, 1998 of stomach cancer. She was an active wife and mother, as well as a junior church teacher.
