Mike was ordained in August 1996 and graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary in May 1997, also receiving the Harry Ironside award for preaching. He now serves as assistant pastor of Berea Bible Church in Springfield, Ohio. For three years, Tracy taught third grade in the Dallas school district. Dana teaches biology, math, and Bible and coaches varsity girls' softball. Kimberly teaches health and physical education, coaches varsity basketball, and is athletic director of the junior high and high school. Mitch is pursuing a master of divinity degree from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Chicago, Illinois. He is also director of South Asian Outreach, a ministry of Uptown Baptist Church, which reaches Hindu and Muslim immigrants from India and Pakistan. She joins a brother, Charlie, at home in Centerburg, Ohio. David is a firefighter and emergency medical technician with the city of Upper Arlington, Ohio. He continues to serve as a volunteer in Centerburg and has been promoted to lieutenant with the Hilliard Township-Centerburg VFD. Anne is assistant director at a Kindercare day care center. Brad operates an electrical contracting business. Focus ON THE FIELD Norm '64 and Evelyn Thoms Nicklas '64 have spent 30 years of ministry with Association of Baptists for World Evangelism (ABWE). To commemorate the beginning of their missionary career in Brazil back in 1968, the four Brazilian churches which the Nicklases planted are funding their return trip to Brazil for a special anniversary celebration. Arnold Fruchtenbaum '66 is director of Ariel Ministries, which ministers to the Jewish population around the world. Now based in Tustin, California, it is beginning its 21st year of ministry. Gary Holtz'67 and his wife, Betty, have completed 21 years of affiliation with Baptist Mid-Missions(BMM)and Campus Bible Fellowship ((BE). In August 1997, Gary accepted an appointment as national coordinator for CBE Mark '67 and Beth Ziegler Trimble '67 have served in Brazil for 25 years. After reporting to 29 supporting churches in less than six months, they have returned to Acre, Brazil with Evangelical Baptist Mission. They share from a prayer letter, "This frontier area compares favorably to the Old West, with its rugged country; rustic lifestyle; and flamboyant, opportunistic people." Patty Neely Zemmer'67 and her husband, Dave, have begun reporting to their churches and individual supporters during this time of furlough in the United States. They are living in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The Zemmers are missionaries in Bahia, Brazil. Ken Cole '70 and his wife, Alice, have been missionaries in The Philippines for 20 years. In June 1997, they rejoiced as New Life Baptist Church became an independent Filipino church. Over the summer, the Coles welcomed Cedarville College students who spent time ministering at two mission hospitals. Robert'70N and Jane Austin Kilko '70 are studying at Baptists For Israel Institute (BII) located on the shore of the Sea of Galilee. They have completed two courses, Geography and Sharing in Israel's Culture, and are currently taking Hebrew and Modern Israel History. The Kilkos serve as missionaries to the Jewish population living in Sao Paulo, Brazil. During this learning period in Israel, they have enjoyed making contact with several Brazilians who have moved to Israel. Larry '72 and Nancy Leapline Allen '70 have served 15 years as church planters in Bangladesh and two years in the Philippines. In June 1997, they returned to the United States for the graduation of their son, Barton Allen '97,from Cedarville College. Their daughters, Talitha, Hannah, and Kara, are also attending college. The Allens plan to return to The Philippines in July 1998 to continue church planting and to begin a training program of Asians reaching Asians. They are preparing to serve with BMM in Cuenca, Ecuador. The Mohlers have three sons, Leon, Rollin, and Neil. Dave'87 and Phyllis Trivett Douglas'87 serve at Camp Barakel in Fairview, Michigan. Dave is program supervisor, and Phyllis is the handcraft coordinator. They have two children, Daniel and Lydia. Doug Phillips '87 and his wife, Karen, are preparing for missionary service in central and eastern Europe. They anticipate working in Odessa, Ukraine, translating gospel literature and researching the Bible translations in the region. In autumn 1997, Doug and Karen took a survey trip to meet their team members, to become acquainted with the Ukranian culture, and to gather more details on their upcoming ministry. They have two children, Luke(6)and Katelyn (3). Kim Trimble Johnson '92 and her husband, David, desire to work with street children in Brazil, whose daily struggle is survival. Eight to ten million Brazilian children and youth are without a home,food, love, or hope. The Johnsons have begun deputation as missionaries with UFM International. They have two sons, Andrew(3) and Matthew (1). Jeff'96 and Tiffany Trimble Nelson '95 are missionary appointees to Brazil. They have a son, Caleb (1). Septuplets'Pastor Returns to Alma Mater O n January 21,Bob Brown '71, pastor of Missionary Baptist Church in Carlisle. Iowa and of the world-famous McCaughey septuplets, brought a message of God's power from the Cedarville College chapel platform. He also brought a video message from the McCaughey's,filmed especially for the Cedarville College family. Bob and his wife, Virginia (Heal'73), shared many of the events surrounding the births of the babies and especially the family's desire to glorify the Lord whatever the outcome.They spoke of on-going opportunities for witness and the supportive prayer of thousands of believers nationwide. Missionary Baptist Church is involved with the McCaughey family "for the long haul." One of the many services the church members provide is making sure that four helpers are in the family home around the clock. When the Browns were in Cedarville, which happened to be the time of the babies' projected due date,five were already home with their parents and sister.
