Inspire, Spring 2001

4 Spring 2001 What’s Abuz z z z z z z z z President’s Pen F uture generations at Cedarville University! A blessed thought for me, and I hope for you. The Lord has been so good to us who have watched Christian young people move through Cedarville in the Heritage years, ’50s, ’60s, ’70s, ’80s, ’90s, and now into this new century. Over the years our students have witnessed a bundle of changes ... new leadership, gorgeous new buildings, and exciting new academic programs. Even though their experiences were different in some respects, all of our students can share in the good old memories of daily chapel, caring faculty and friends, and a solid education provided in the light of biblical truth. Lord willing, future generations will find that our campus is always progressing yet holding fast to the truth of God’s Word. How thankful I am that God has preserved the godly heartbeat of Cedarville! I also thank God for the long list of trustees, administrators, faculty, and staff who invested their lives in Cedarville University for the glory of God and for Christian young men and women over the years. Some of these servants reap their investments in heaven today. Others take great satisfaction in seeing alumni who return to campus at Homecoming or other activities. Many remain in contact through letters, e-mail, or phone calls. God is raising up a new generation of these Christian leaders who are taking the places of those who retire, and future generations will have a truly higher education because of such committed, special saints. Cedarville’s future is bright! Please invest in the next generation who will have their lives changed and molded like yours was. Pray that we will stick to our mission “to offer an education consistent with biblical truth.” Pray for wisdom for our present and future University leaders. And please remember to pray for those young men and women who will choose to be a part of our Cedarville family. I know that future generations of Cedarville students will be blessed by your prayers and generosity. Dr. Paul Dixon ’94H President Feeling Overloaded? If you are feeling burned out, tapes of this year’s Staley Distinguished Christian Scholar Lecture Program may be just what the doctor ordered! The 2001 series welcomed Dr. Richard A. Swenson, director of the Future Health Study Center, as its guest. In three humorous yet practical chapel messages, Dr. Swenson offered criteria for determining if overload exists in one’s life and methods for regaining a healthy margin of rest. His three message titles were: “The Overload Syndrome: A Life Devoid of Time and Space,” “Margin: The Space Between Our Load and Our Limits,” and “Science, Scripture, and Sovereignty.” To order cassette tapes or CDs of some or all of the series, call the CDR Radio Network at 1-800-333-0601.
