Scott Shaw ’98 and Alisa Whitt ’99 were married September 29, 2001 and have made their home in Stow, Ohio. Scott works with youth and worship at The Chapel in Akron, and Alisa has a music therapy career at a local hospital. Chris ’99 and Lori Hockenberry Alexander ’96 announce the birth of Abigail McKenna on May 14, 2001. She joins her brother, Ryan, at home in Park Forest, Illinois. Jay Clark ’99 and Megan Ruoss ’00 were married July 1, 2000 at Grace Bible Fellowship Church in Reading, Pennsylvania. The couple honeymooned in Bermuda and returned to their home in Mt. Penn, Pennsylvania. Jay is a computer software salesman for Xetex Business Systems, and Megan is a nurse at the Reading Hospital and Medical Center. Jacob Rambo ’99 graduated from the University of California Davis School of Law in May 2001 and passed the California bar examination that summer. He is a deputy district attorney in Amador County, California. Steve ’99 and Sarah Grapentine Strong ’99 announce the birth of Jared Thomas on October 27, 2001. Steve is the youth pastor at Grace Baptist Church in Westlake, Ohio, and Sarah stays at home to care for their new son. 2000s Tim Amstutz ’00 and Kim Meadows ’01 were married June 30, 2001 in Mt. Vernon, Ohio. After a honeymoon in Jamaica, the couple made their home in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Tim is a sales engineer for OPEX Corporation. James Hall ’00 and Nicole Luckmann ’00 were married September 9, 2001 in Chicago, Illinois. Due to September 11, their honeymoon to Mexico had to be postponed. They now reside in Orlando, Florida, where Jamie is a flight instructor, and Nikki is an adoptions counselor. Rebecca Leatherman ’00 and Jarrod Michalak were married July 15, 2000. Several Cedarville alumni participated in the wedding. The couple enjoyed a cruise in the Caribbean, and they are now residing in Telford, Pennsylvania. Rebecca is a seventh grade learning support teacher at Indian Valley Middle School, and Jarrod works as an auto technician at Michalak Service Station. Rosemarie Marotta ’00 and Jason Beedon were married June 3, 2001 in Appleton, New York. They enjoyed a cruise to the Bahamas before returning home to Buffalo, New York, where they are missionaries with Campus Crusade for Christ at the University of Buffalo. Brenda Mick ’00 and Brian Felker were married September 29, 2001. Brenda is a registered nurse at Mary Free Bed Hospital, and Brian is a manager at Fastco Industries. They reside in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Jason O’Neal ’00 and Kristi High ’01 were married July 7, 2001. They have made their home in Taylors, South Carolina. Paul ’00 and Ellen Laber Swenson ’00 announce the birth of Samuel Paul on October 16, 2001. Paul sells advertisements for a brochure about northern Vermont. They reside in Derby, Vermont. Joel Cormany ’01 and Karen Leininger ’01 were married August 4, 2001 in Grand Blanc, Michigan. Joel teaches at a Dayton charter school, and Karen teaches fifth grade in Washington Court House. They reside in Cedarville, Ohio. Derrick Doherty ’01 and Kerri Herrold ’01 were married December 15, 2001. They reside in Neptune City, New Jersey. Andrew Mellish ’01 and Sarah Kanzeg ’01 were married September 29, 2001. They have made their home in Cincinnati, Ohio. Matthew ’01 and Jill Hand Nihiser ’01 serve at Calvary Baptist Church in Lancaster, Ohio, where Matthew is pastor. In Memory Of Wilda Bickett ’28 went home to be with the Lord on November 6, 2001 in Xenia, Ohio. She had taught school in Jamestown and Rushsylvania and had been employed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. We extend our deepest sympathy to her family. James Rowe ’49 went home to be with the Lord on May 19, 2001 after a long battle with a Parkinson’s- related disease. Our sincere condolences to his family. Francis Burrell ’82 went home to be with the Lord on January 7, 2002 in Fairborn, Ohio. Francis was a lieutenant colonel in the United States Air Force, having retired from active duty in 1974 after 32 years and 10 months of service. He had flown 34 different aircraft and accumulated 11,000 hours of flying. We extend our deepest sympathy to his wife, Phyllis, and many other family members. Amy Buehner McKelvey ’94 went home to be with the Lord on January 19, 2002. Amy and her husband, Michael, had been married for only a year and were expecting their first child when the Lord called her home. She is fondly remembered as a loving teacher and friend. We extend our deepest sympathy to her husband, parents, brother Noah ’96 , sister-in-law Renee (Cunningham) ’97 , and sister Katie ’02 . Todd Kress ’99 went home to be with the Lord on November 29, 2001 in Colorado. We extend our sympathy to his family and friends. Inspire 27 Alumni Staff Member Weds Andrew Rodriguez ’01 and Rachel Puckett ’00 were married October 20, 2001 in Berrien Center, Michigan. Many Cedarville alumni participated in the wedding. The couple enjoyed a honeymoon in Florida and a cruise to the Bahamas. Both Rachel and Andrew serve at Cedarville University, Rachel as the communications coordinator in the alumni relations office and Andrew as the assistant director of admissions for recruitment. This summer, they will pursue their goal of career missions by attending the annual candidate training seminar of the Association of Baptists for World Evangelism (ABWE).
