On January 28, two new members were inducted into the Cedarville University Athletic Hall of Fame. Todd Dowden ’88 wrestled for the Yellow Jackets from 1984-88 and was a four- time NCCAA national champion. He qualified for the NAIA Nationals three times, was a four-time Team MVP, and was twice named an All-America Scholar-Athlete. Judy Stamatis Kopelman ’70 was a four-year Lady Jacket athlete from 1966-70 in the sports of field hockey, volleyball, and basketball. She was later selected to the first United States Handball Team, competing from 1977-80. She is currently a high school varsity field hockey coach in New York with five state championships to her credit. The Meritorious Service Award was presented to Nedra Callan, recognizing her more than 40 years of faithful supportive ministry to the Yellow Jacket athletics program. In addition, the jersey of Pete Reese ’60, Cedarville University Athletic Director, was retired to mark his outstanding accomplishments in Cedarville basketball from 1956-60. Athletic Hall of Fame Honors Todd Dowden ’88 Judy Stamatis Kopelman ’70 Nedra Callan’s family accepted the award on her behalf. Nedra was on a missions trip to Brazil at the time of the ceremony.
