Inspire, Spring 2005

Inspire 31 Michelle spent the summer raising support to teach at Black Forest Academy in Germany. Dan teaches high school physics and physical science, and Michelle teaches elementary physical education. Donna Mitchell Dorsey ’97 and her husband, Caleb, announce the birth of Madeline Josephine on August 26, 2004. They reside in Loyalton, California. Laura Glessner ’97 and Joshua Carlson were married September 18, 2004. Joshua is a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army and is currently stationed at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. Laura is substitute-teaching while looking for a full-time teaching position. Craig Hamer ’97 and Reena Saar were married July 31, 2004 in Tartu, Estonia. After a honeymoon in Colorado, the couple returned to their home in Tartu, where they are youth missionaries. Dan ’97 and Sarah Gross Hatfield ’98 announce the birth of Elena Virginia on August 11, 2004. She joins her sister, Ava (3), at home in Middletown, Pennsylvania. Brad ’97 and Andrea Linamen Nelson ’01 announce the birth of Jacob Michael on August 1, 2004 in Columbus, Ohio. Jeff ’97 and Angela Boyce Saunders ’97 announce the birth of Emily Marilyn on June 16, 2003. Older sister, Erica (3), is enjoying the fact that Emily is now old enough to play with her. The Saunders are raising support to serve the Lord in Kenya with AIM. Jeff will be the station technical manager of the missionary compound, and Angela will run the 12-room motel. Please pray that the Lord would provide the necessary funds for them to go to Kenya in 2005. Darren ’97 and Darla Anthony Weaver ’96 announce the birth of Dacia Esther on May 13, 2004. She joins her brother, Drew (2), at home in Reading, Pennsylvania. Darren is an auto mechanic, and Darla enjoys being a full-time mom. The Weavers are applying with SEND International to go to Alaska as support staff. Laurie Whaley ’97 has been promoted to vice president of the New Century Version translation in Thomas Nelson’s Bible Division. Thomas Nelson credits Laurie with the 236% sales growth of the New Century Version line last year. Laurie resides in Nashville, Tennessee. Janet Kollmeyer Wittenmyer ’97 and her husband, Bryan, announce the birth of Luke Oliver on April 1, 2004. They reside in Morgantown, Pennsylvania. Jon ’98 and Lisa Cook Basner ’98 announce the birth of Josiah Jordan. He was born October 16, 2004 and was welcomed home by his sister, Jillian (2), in Waldoboro, Maine. Jon is the pastor of youth and children’s education at First Baptist Church in Waldoboro. Nikki Streit Broughton ’98 and her husband, Tim, announce the birth of Nathaniel Lee on September 7, 2004. He joins his brother, Grayson (15 months), at home in Woodstock, Georgia. Jennifer Stover Curley ’98 and her husband, Nathan, announce the birth of Gabrielle Hope on August 19, 2004. Big brother Jacob (2) welcomed her home in Dayton, Ohio. Nathan is a police officer with the city of Dayton, and Jen is an administrative assistant to the children’s minister at Beavercreek Christian Church. Greg Dyson ’98 is the minister of Christian education with the Church in the Acres Baptist in Springfield, Massachusetts. Dusty Hill ’98 owns an Allstate Insurance office in Coshocton, Ohio. Jeremy ’98 and Abigail Howe Toyer ’98 announce the birth of Jared Timothy. He was born September 13, 2004 and was welcomed home by his brother, Joshua (2), in Tabernacle, New Jersey. Joe ’98 and Melody Curtis Whinnery ’94 announce the birth of Nathan Edward Austin on December 26, 2003. Joe works as an application engineer for Valeo Automotive, while Melody keeps busy caring for Nathan and teaching children in a local Bible study. The Whinnerys reside in Rochester Hills, Michigan. Mary Beth Powell Williams ’98 and her husband, Eric, announce the birth of Elizabeth Grace on June 9, 2004. Mary Beth left her position as a high school English teacher to stay at home with Ella Grace. The family resides in Greer, South Carolina. BJ Bechtel ’99 and his wife, Shanna, feel like God has put a specific teenage boy into their lives so they can build a relationship with him. Please pray for them, as this relationship will be challenging. Shannah Campbell ’99 and Eric Hogue were married May 29, 2004 at Northwest Bible Church in Hilliard, Ohio. Shannah teaches composition at Cedarville University, and Eric is a researcher for Battelle Memorial Institute. They reside in Galloway, Ohio. Julia Horne McLean ’99 and her husband, Brandon, announce the birth of Kaitlyn Joy on July 12, 2004. Julia enjoys staying at home with Kaitlyn and continues to work per diem as an intensive care nurse. Brandon is an engineer with Lockheed Martin. Nikki Chakalis Meraz ’99 and her husband, Dan, announce the birth of Millie Grace on July 27, 2004. They reside in Chicago, Illinois. Alicia Baisley Parker ’99 and her husband, Clai, announce the birth of Pierce Taylor. He was born September 24, 2004 in Daytona Beach, Florida. Tim ’99 and Jori Forward Phillips ’99 reside in Byron Center, Michigan, with their daughter, Marin Alane (2). Jori is a part-time nurse on a women and pediatrics unit at Metropolitan Hospital in Grand Rapids. Tim is a physical therapist at an outpatient clinic and is pursuing his doctorate in manual therapy. Luke ’99 and Kelly Montague Postema ’99 announce the birth of Jacob Wilson on January 5, 2004. Luke is an electrical engineer at Harris RF Communications, and
