Inspire, Spring 2005
Inspire 33 Many times alumni find out just how small this world really is when they “coincidentally” meet up with other alumni and find encouragement and assistance. For example, Air Force 2nd Lt. Francis Saul ’02 and Major Mike Baker ’93 became friends during Frank’s junior year at CU. Mike, a pilot at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, was instrumental in helping Frank attend Officer Training School and pilot training in Mike’s unit. When Frank graduated from Officer Training School, it was Mike who commissioned him. The two have become good friends, and Frank finds that his career path mirrors that of Mike’s. An additional example is that of Erica Linafelter ’03 . When Erica was hired to teach third grade in the Adams 12 Public School system in North Denver, Colorado, she was placed in the school’s mentoring program, which links first-year teachers with more experienced ones. As it turns out, Erica was paired with veteran teacher Beth Boomgarden Jacobson ’81 ! You never know where and how you may meet a fellow Cedarville grad!
