Inspire 11 Passing the Blessing Maybe you remember what it was like: feeling called to be at Cedarville and enjoying the experience, but often wondering how you would afford it while you looked for creative ways to finance your education. With education costs on the rise, students today need scholarships more than ever. And Cedarville University is committed to helping them. Interest in attending Cedarville is at near-record levels, yet enrollment is not reflective of the record number of applications. According to many of the students who decline our offer of admission and instead select another school, it comes down to finances. Cedarville was their preferred college, but their personal and family resources fell short of covering the cost of attendance. Thankfully, scholarship gifts are making a difference. Caleb Svendsen ’04 is a transfer student majoring in electronic media. He says, “When I decided to transfer, my decision came down to Cedarville and another Christian college. Even though the other school was closer to home and seemed like the obvious choice, I chose Cedarville for its academic excellence and the clearly biblical worldview I saw in evidence on campus. The generous scholarships I have received helped make it financially possible for me to pay for my first year of school.” Caleb will tell you that the generosity of others has made a difference in his life! “Academically, I have been incredibly challenged and motivated here,” he continued. “Spiritually, I have been lifted to a sense of sheer amazement at the greatness of my sovereign God. He has tested me in ways I never would have asked for and has shown Himself good in every hard situation.” Caleb is a living testimony that God’s Kingdom is growing, and students like him are many. They sense God’s call on their lives to be at Cedarville. They have a heart for ministry but need the help of others to make their educational experience at Cedarville a reality. Without question, more student financial aid is needed. To help students, Cedarville University is committed to increasing donor-funded scholarships by 20 percent annually. It’s an ambitious goal, but one that is both necessary and worthwhile. No gift is too small when it comes to helping students experience the best of Christian higher education at Cedarville.
