32 Spring 2007 Amanda Slagle ’04 and Jeremy Slone were married May 6, 2006 in Beavercreek, Ohio. After a two-week honeymoon in Puerto Penaso, Mexico, they have made their home in Phoenix, Arizona. Amanda is a labor and delivery nurse at Scottsdale Healthcare, and Jeremy is a pediatric resident at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Christopher Jones ’05 and Nicole James ’06 were married June 2, 2006 in Rochester, New York. They reside in Charlotte, North Carolina. Emily Morton ’05 received her master of accounting degree from The Ohio State University in June 2006. She is an accountant for the Defense Finance and Accounting Service in Columbus, Ohio. Daron Day ’06 and Ashley Varvel ’06 were married July 29, 2006 at Bethesda Baptist Church in Brownsburg, Indiana. They now reside in Dallas, Texas, where Daron is attending Dallas Theological Seminary. Jonathan Lett ’06 serves with The Navigators on the campus of the University of Vermont. He has been able to lead a study on the book of John and the group seems eager to learn. He is so thankful for the way he has been able to establish relationships at the campus. Julie Landau ’03 serves the Lord with the Caribbean Ministries Association on Eleuthera and is so thankful for how God has enabled her to continue her ministry. Kellie Redinger ’03 and Mathew Kandel were married on July 30, 2005, nine months after his proposal on the Great Wall of China (where Kellie was teaching with Cedarville’s Educational Resource and Assistance Program). They reside in Akron, Ohio, where Matt is a worship leader and is completing his M.A. from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Kellie works in sales at Amos Data Systems. Patty Roach ’03 and Nathan Bell were married August 21, 2004 at Palisade Baptist Church near Silver Bay, Minnesota. They now reside in the Cincinnati, Ohio area, where Nathan is a web developer and Patty is a homemaker. In their spare time they are remodeling the small apartment building that is currently their home. Kristin Flynn ’04 is excited about the Bali outreach that Surfing the Nations sponsored in 2006. She enjoyed seeing people who responded to the team and is thankful for how God worked in the lives of several people. Tyson ’04 and Shelley Steinmetz Herald ’04 announce the birth of Calla Rae on August 27, 2006 in Indianapolis, Indiana. They both work for the family business, AAS, Inc. Tyson is the operations manager and Shelley works part-time from home. Ryan ’04 and Kristie Uminn Husband ’03 announce the birth of Raegan Elise on August 21, 2006. They reside near Cincinnati, Ohio, where Ryan works for Resource One. Kristie stays at home with Raegan. Julie Miller ’04 and Ransom Kent were married September 2, 2006 in Palm Bay, Florida. After a honeymoon in Sedona, Arizona, they have returned home to Springfield, Ohio. Ransom is a youth pastor, and Julie is an abstinence educator for a pregnancy resource center. Peter Locke ’06 and Kimberly Jonker were married August 12, 2006. They reside in Bloomington, Indiana and are expecting their first child in August. In Memory Of We extend our condolences to the family and friends of these dear loved ones. Nancy Norton Brower ’69 went home to be with the Lord on February 7, 2007. She and her husband, Dan ’68 , were missionaries with Baptist Mid-Missions in Brazil. Their children are Jeremy ’93 , Julie ’96 , and Jayme ’00 . John Kesler ’72 went home to be with the Lord on August 1, 2006 in Hickory Hills, Illinois. He was an evangelist for 20 years before spending the last six years as the minister of outreach at Standing Stones Church. He preached anywhere he could and distributed more than 2.5 million gospel tracts in his lifetime. John had an intense desire to share the love of God. He will be missed by his brothers, Sam ’75 and Joe ’77 , and many other family members. Julie Mummey Halsey ’93 went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 5, 2007. She passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family and friends, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Julie is survived by her husband, Todd ’92 , and their three children, Hannah (10), Nathan (7), and Luke (2). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Maranatha Baptist Church of Columbus, Ohio, or you can make a donation directly to the Halsey family at any US Bank location (Todd & Julie Halsey Family Fund). These three alumnae met in Sparta, Michigan for a weekend reunion. It was the first time in three years that these friends had seen each other!
