Inspire “Go” Tour Hits Cedarville Christian band Newsboys brought their “Go” concert tour to Cedarville University on February 17. The acclaimed singers were joined on their tour by fellow Christian artists Kutless and Stellar Kart. An Exercise in Lifesaving Those who see Cedarville professor Dr. Sharon Johnson exercising in the University’s Fitness Center might never guess that his life was nearly taken by a heart attack in that same location just a few months ago. Thanks to an external defibrillator in the building and quick thinking by Dr. Melissa Hartman ’96 (head volleyball coach) and other CU personnel, his life was saved. Soaring at Pole Vault Summit Jason Scott ’08 soared to a school- record mark of 17 feet and 6.5 inches to tie for first place in the college division of the National Pole Vault Summit on January 20. Jason added nearly six inches to his old school record of 17’ ¾”. He established that mark in winning the 2006 indoor title at the NAIA Championship. Five Added to Athletic Hall of Fame During Cedarville University’s Alumni Weekend in February, the University added five new members to its Athletic Hall of Fame. The elite list included former volleyball coach Teresa Cooper Clark ’75; Angela Hartman ’94, a standout in volleyball and tennis; men’s cross country and track distance runner Tom Hill ’87; men’s tennis star Jeff Kohl ’90; and Joyce Reese, who was honored for meritorious service. Building a Life of Integrity Cedarville University hosted the annual State Convention of Baptists in Ohio Evangelism Celebration in February. The theme was “Building a Life of Integrity: Evangelism for a New Day” and featured speakers such as Dr. David Jeremiah ’63, Dr. Ergun Caner, Dr. Voddie Baucham Jr., and Dave Dravecky. Christian singer Charles Billingsley and several Cedarville University ensembles provided special music.
