Shortly after graduation, Tyler will be commissioned into the U.S. Army as a second lieutenant. In Memory We extend our condolences to the family and friends of these dear loved ones. Arthur Hicks ’63 of Cassopolis, Michigan, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 19, 2007. Arthur attended Cedarville from 1959 to 1961, where he met his wife, Norma (Smith) Hicks ’64 . He then transferred to Omaha Baptist Bible College, where he graduated in 1963. Over the years, Arthur served the Lord pastoring churches in Iowa, Kansas, Indiana, and Michigan. Besides his wife, he leaves behind four children and their spouses, as well as nine grandchildren. R. Dan Park ’64 passed away on February 1, 2007, at his home in Houston, Texas, due to congestive heart failure. After retiring from a career in computer programming, he enjoyed hosting an FM Internet radio music channel. Until his death, Dan faithfully attended every Homecoming at Cedarville since graduating. He is survived by his son, grandchildren, three sisters, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Daniel Robert Lacey ’68 was welcomed into the presence of the Lord on November 7, 2007, in France, where he had served as a pastor/missionary for 38 years. After completing language studies in Paris, Dan and his family moved to Bordeaux and worked with an existing church for seven years. He then accepted a call to go to Caen (in Normandy) to help a small, struggling group of Ukrainian believers establish a church. Dan’s ministry went well beyond sermon preparation, for he constantly reached out to all people, presenting the claims of Scripture and then watching as the Spirit worked in lives. The current pastors of the church called Dan’s office a spiritual “maternity ward,” where they — along with many others — found new life in Christ. Dan leaves behind his wife, Betty; daughters: Susan ’90 , Barbara, Rachelle, and Rebecca, and their spouses; and 12 grandchildren. Jonathan W. Crider ’97 went home to be with the Lord on December 13, 2007, following cardiac arrest that resulted from a seizure. The 34-year-old resident of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, married Shannon (House) ’99 on November 18, 2006. A graduate of West Virginia State College, Jonathan had been working for Champs American and attended Chapel Hill Bible Church. He enjoyed the outdoors — especially hunting, fishing, and camping — was a history buff and an avid reader. Besides his wife, he is survived by his father, his mother and stepfather, two brothers, and his maternal grandmother. We want to hear from you! Updates may be sent to Alumni Relations, 251 N. You can’t swing an iPod nowadays without hearing, seeing, or reading about sex. But the messages coming through are not biblically based and are, often, destructive. Today’s kids need to hear about sex from a Christian perspective. That’s where Bob ’88 and Dannah (Barker) Gresh ’89 and their Pure Freedom ministry come in. In support of this important work, Cedarville University will sponsor a 10-day Pure Freedom tour in April — a series of conferences at churches and schools across several states, including Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana. The tour includes a stop at Cedarville. Targeting students in middle and high school, this event helps teens navigate the often murky waters of sexuality — pointing them in the direction of purity and holiness. Young girls learn to recognize true beauty and the power of modesty. But the boys won’t be left out, as they are challenged to focus on mental purity resisting the lure of pornography, and respecting the feminine sex.
