Moments later, the music of Buddy Green brought to life 530 AM WSRN — radio produced by and for the students of Cedarville University. In 1996, the station underwent a successful change from AM to FM, becoming U99.5 FM. In 2007, the station made yet another discerning move by switching to broadband! Resound Radio made its recent debut at www.resoundradio.com . The site provides when-I-want-it sound accompanied by content such as news and podcasts. Can I Get That at iTunes? “We realized that not many students were using radios,” shared current Station Manager Kevin Martelli ’09. “If they do use them, it’s only in their cars.” Data harvested by an electronic media survey research class affirmed that a change was needed. And, in Steve Jobs-like fashion, that change was introduced during chapel on October 26, 2007. “The name ‘Resound’ was chosen for two reasons,” said Music Director Jarrod Steinmetz ’09. “We wanted to convey that Resound was not a rehash, but a completely different sound. And we wanted to encourage the student body. The Bible tells us how nature resounds His praise. We want to be a part of that resonation.” Survey Says So what’s abuzz about the switch? “Students who never listened to the station prior were telling us how excited they were,” said Jarrod. Kevin agreed, adding that “we’ve been praying that God will use the gifts and abilities He has given our staff to serve His people at Cedarville. The positive feedback we’ve received has been due to that service.” With that in mind, Ephesians 4:29 is prominently displayed in Studio A of Resound Radio: “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” Yes, the delivery method may have changed, but the message remains the same. Student Station Goes Broadband “The Bible tells us how nature resounds His praise. We want to be a part of that resonation.”
