Cedarville believes its students can do the same thing — which has inspired the University’s first semester program in Washington, D.C. The 16-credit-hour D.C. Semester will help students gain an insider’s perspective on American politics and government. “This is a great opportunity to prepare students for a career in public service,” said Dr. Mark Caleb Smith, director of the D.C. Semester and assistant professor of political science. “They will begin to network with employers, develop relationships with alumni in the area, and gain unique work experience.” Participants will expand skills and knowledge through on-site lectures led by Cedarville faculty, as well as internship opportunities designed to benefit students of all majors. This venture is provided in partnership with the University’s Center for Political Studies. Established in 2004, the center seeks to articulate a biblical view of government through the study of politics, law, history, and public policy and to engage and influence American political culture. In Cedarville’s first semester program in D.C., Dr. Mark Caleb Smith will lead students on a life-changing journey of learning and service. Dr. Smith Goes to Washington www.cedarville.edu/dcsemester
