Inspire, Summer 1994

Instrumental to our academic progress and program development is the number of outstanding faculty which the Lord has led to Cedarville College. Thirteen new faculty positions have been budgeted for 1994-95 in the areas of Bible theology, missions, video and broadcasting,special education, mechanical and electrical engineering, pediatric and maternity nursing,social work, biology, mathematics, and physics. Faculty are also being hired in the areas of philosophy,computer information systems,composition, and library services. Please pray with the college administration as vital decisions are made. Please remember to pray for the 15 MIS teams ministering this summer. Singing teams will serve in Australia, Brazil, and England. Two nursing teams will go to the Central African Republic, and two teams will travel to Hungary to teach English as a second language. Puppet teams will minister in Chile and South Africa, while an engineering team will build a control system for a Christian radio station in Monrovia, Liberia. Germany and the Ukraine are the destinations for two ministry teams, and a sign language team will work with hearing-impaired campers in Jamaica. A men's basketball team will go to The Philippines and a women's team,to Portugal. Linda Fisher Wallace'75 is a nursing instructor at Indiana University in Kokomo,Indiana and works at St. Joseph Hospital. Ken Floyd'77 is as senior pastor of North Park Baptist Church in Grand Rapids,Michigan. His ministry began there in July 1993.Ken and his wife,Sharon,and their daughter, Allison(10),moved from Canton,Ohio, where Ken served as pastor ofPerry Baptist Church for nine years. Ken also completed six years ofservice on the Council ofTwelve ofthe Ohio Association of Regular Baptist Churches. Joel Harriman'77 began a new ministry in April as senior pastor of Mt.Pleasant Baptist Church in Homeworth,Ohio.Joel and his wife,Janet(Carr'77), served at New Richland Baptist Church in Belle Center, Ohio for ten years previously.The Harrimans have four children,Jennifer(15),Jessica(13),Jimmy(9),and Janie(6). Carlton McCracken'77is the lab director for Mahaffey Laboratory Ltd., which performs complete water and waste water analysis.The McCrackens have settled in Pennsylvania. Barbara Roth Rohde'79 received her master of education degree in reading from Illinois State University in May 1993.Barb and her husband,Joe'79, hosted an alumni gathering in Bloomington,Illinois in April. Barb homeschools their two children,Sherrie(9) and Joseph,Jr.(6),and is expecting their third child this summer. 60s David Elmore'66 and his wife, Marcia,have answered the Lord's call to a new pastorate at Grace Baptist Church in Winterset,Iowa.The Elmores previously served at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Marysville, Ohio. Thomas Duff'68 has been pastoring at Bethany Baptist Church in Madison,Georgia for the past thirteen years. He also has a Sunday morning television ministry in Athens,Georgia and in Dayton,Ohio. John Goodman'69 is a psychologist at Augusta Correctional Facility in Virginia. 50s Lynn Rogers'54 has been appointed executive director ofCamp Patmos in Kellys Island, Ohio. As executive director, he will be responsible to provide overall leadership for the daily operation ofthe camp while it is in session. Lynn shares,"God used Christian camping to turn my life around when I was in my mid-teens, and I have always enjoyed my involvement with the camp ministries in Ohio." Les Webster'59 is the senior pastor ofBailey Road Baptist Church in North Jackson,Ohio.On January 23, the church had thejoy ofburning their mortgage.Les and the people ofthe church have enjoyed working together in harmony under the Lord's direction. Les and his wife,Nancy(Scholten'60N),have three daughters. 30s Rachel Creswell Funderburg'38 and her husband,Wilmer,celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on August 7, 1993.They enjoyed a family dinner hosted by their children and a Caribbean cruise vacation.The Funderburgs live in New Carlisle, Ohio. ONE IN CHRIS Evelyn Parker'80 and Steven Gollmer celebrated their love in marriage on December4, 1992.They are living in Lafayette,Indiana. John Nicholas'83 and Maureen Mulhall exchanged marriage vows at Brown Street Baptist Church in Alton, Illinois on May 30, 1992. John is employed at a metal fabrication plant, and Maureen is area resource director for the Alzheimers Safe Return Program. Mindy Ager'85N and J.P. Moreland were married in Maui,Hawaii on October 3, 1992.The couple has settled in Orlando,Florida, where Mindy is a registered sonographer and radiographer. Nancy LaBonte'86 and Marc Blackwell became one in Christ on December 17, 1993.Nancy and Marc will be leading a Missionary Apprentice Program(MAP)team to South Africa for the summer of 1994. Upon their return,the Blackwells will settle in Lafayette,Indiana, where Marc will complete a nine-month internship in counseling at Faith Baptist Church.The couple hopes to attend ABWE's candidate class in 1995 to return to South Africa as full-time missionaries. Ellen Pedersen'86 and Matthew Scott Allison pledged their love on February 27,1994. Ellen is an intensive care nurse at Parrish Medical Center. Matthew is employed by the accounting department ofBrevard County in Titusville, Florida. 10 SUMMER'94 Tina Daley'87and Todd Schackne were united as one on October 9,1993.The Schacknes are living in Brandon,Florida. Linda Lons'87 and David Stallard were married at Medina First Baptist on October 2, 1993. Linda is a tax accountant for Telxon Corp.and has a private accounting business. David is general manager ofLee-Schubert Sales&Service. After a wedding trip to Aruba,the couple resides in Medina,Ohio. Rebecca Peters'88 and Mark MarineIla celebrated their union at the First Baptist Church in Troy,Ohio on September 25,1993.Rebecca is a rehabilitation nurse at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where Mark is a resident physician. Sheila Murdoch'89 and Tim Moore pledged their love in marriage in 1993.The couple is living in Quakertown, Pennsylvania. Kimberly Sweet'89 and Tim Powers became husband and wife on July 31, 1993 at Immanuel Bible Church in Burke, Virginia. Kimberly is teaching part-time at Greenbrier Christian Academy and pursuing a career in Christian contemporary music.Tim is responsible for market development at Satcom.The Powers live in Chesapeake, Virginia. Andrea Gerstner'90 and Steven Bardwell exchanged wedding vows in Cincinnati,Ohio on April 2, 1994. Andrea's parents from Hungary were able to attend the joyous ceremony! Andrea is a booking agentfor Carpenter's Tools,Intermational, while Steve works in construction. Steve is planning to finish his education at Azusa Pacific University in the fall. Angela Bennett'91 and Joe Howard were married on February 27,1993. Angela is a teller at Southeastern Bank,while Joe is stationed in St. Mary's,Georgia with the U.S. Navy. Amy McClain'91 and James Kellogg pledged their lives in marriage on July 24,1993 in Midland,Michigan. Amy received her B.S.in business administration from Central Michigan University in August 1993 and now works in customer service at Midland Chemical Company. Mark McMurtry'91 and Angela Smith'92 were wed in Cleveland,Ohio on December 5,1992. Mark is a sales representative for Ailing Cory Paper Co.,and Angela is a third grade teacher at Bethel Christian School. Mark and Angela have settled in Lakewood,Ohio. Julie Nyenhuis'91 and Gary Childers'93celebrated their love in marriage on June 12, 1993. Gary is attending Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary,while Julie is substitute teaching. David Carrick'92and Laurie Cline'93N exchanged marriage vows at the Northwest Chapel in Amlin,Ohio on April 2, 1994.The Carricks are living in Columbus, Ohio. Shelly Eastlund'93 and Rob Brown were married on October 30, 1993 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. After honeymooning in St. Thomas,the Browns settled in Indianapolis. Shelly is a nurse in the pediatric intensive care unit at Riley Children's Hospital,and Rob is a structural engineer. Dave Kimmel'93 and Ruth Bartholomew'93became husband and wife on September 25,1993 at Bethel Baptist Church in Merrillville, Indiana. After enjoying a honeymoon in Gatlinburg,Tennessee,the Kimmels settled in Cincinnati, Ohio.Dave is a technical writer for Entek Scientific Corporation, and Ruth works for South-Western College Publishing. Holly Moore'93and Tim Floyd exchanged wedding vows on September 11, 1993 in Jacksonville, Michigan. Holly and Tim are living in Port Huron,where Tim is part-owner ofEmory's Furniture. Michelle Nelson'93and Ron Kuzma were married on July 17, 1993 at Capitol City Baptist Church in Holt, Michigan. Michelle is a registered nurse at Sparrow Hospital, while Ron is a student preparing for the ministry.
