On March 28, 1994,friends and family members of Dr. James T. Jeremiah '73H, chancellor of the College, and Ethel Rayburn gathered at Grace Baptist Church in Cedarville to witness their wedding vows. Escorting the bride were her son-in-law, Larry Twigg '79, and grandson David Twigg. Dr. David Jeremiah '63,son of the groom, officiated at the ceremony. Attendants were Marilyn Rayburn Twigg '79, daughter of the bride, and James D. Jeremiah '70, son of the groom. Dr. Jeremiah was later recognized during chapel for his 80th birthday. Dr. Dixon presented the Jeremiahs with the Energizer mascot and the Student Government Association gave the newlyweds a keepsake box which included a Bible. Cedarville favorite Steve Green returned to campus for two concerts during Parents Weekend 1994. Singing a variety of classic favorites and releases from his new album, he gave a strong challenge to the College family concerning our faithfulness to the Lord and to our families. Cedarville alumnus Scott Mills'92, concert promotion coordinator for Steve Green, made the trip from Nashville to enjoy the concert. Cedar Day Honors The Heritage Of Cedarville College "The happiestday in my life was the dayIfoundI could go to Cedarville College. It was a beautiful day in September.Irememberand admire the caliber of students andfaculty who gave oftheir bestfor a pittance...people like Mr.Hostetler, Dr. Jurkat, and Dr.McChesney. Thefirst ten years after college I taught in Cedarville's public school.lam now 81 and still love Cedarville College, butIshall neverforget those glorious days." Luella Robe Hilt Class of 1936 Luella Robe Hilt '36 enjoyed the Cedar Day activities on May 7, 1994, along with 38 other Heritage Alumni who 2nd Generation During Parents Weekend,second generation Cedarville College students and their alumni parents were invited to attend a reception in their honor. The Alumni Association showed their appreciation to these families by providing a time of fellowship and a menu of delicious desserts. Tammy Wittkamper and her parents, Tom and Cathy Hubbard Wittkamper'68, enjoyed this and several other events of the weekend. returned to campus for a wonderful luncheon and the matinee performance of the musical favorite, The Sound of Music. Two John W. Bickett Scholarship recipients joined the luncheon in the President's Dining Room and enjoyed stories of Cedarville's campus in earlier days. Scott Robar and Mitchell Leman gave testimony and their thanks to the many Heritage Alumni who support the John W. Bickett Scholarship Fund. Both Scott and Mitch plan to attend seminary after graduation in 1995. Each recipient receives a plaque and a scholarship stipend of $1500 to be used for tuition at Cedarville College. Dr. Donald Kyle '28 closed the luncheon in a word of prayer. Harry Sinks Remains Young At Heart Harry Sinks'38 cheered many basketball games to victory during his college career. Well loved by his classmates,Harry is still remembered as the campus cheerleader.But his volunteer work and service to the community have garnered praises and rewards not known to us. Harry says his activity and assistance to others has kept him young at heart! As an Otterbein-Lebanon resident,Rev.Sinks assists as chaplain at the Lebanon Correctional Institute,leads the Warren County food collection drive for the hungry,and conducts weekly Bible studies and Sunday school classes at the Otterbein Home.Harry also finds time to visit the Alzheimer's Unit,serve on the Warren/Clinton Counties Mental Health Board,and assist at Otterbein's United Methodist Church. Harry's degree from Cedarville is in secondary education English and biology. He wenton to complete a master ofdivinity in 1972and served as pastor ofFranklin First United Methodist Church in Ohio for many years. Harriet and Harry Sinks have enjoyed 53 wonderful years of marriage and look forward to many more active years. Alford Annex, 11:30 a.m. Riverfront Stadium Marietta,Ohio Cedarville College campus Wendy Orchard Serves Alumni t's ajoy to work with the different generations of Cedarville College alumni-from those who were here before I was born right up through my contemporaries,"says Wendy Miller Orchard'91."I see how God has blessed the College through these alumni and how Cedarville has influenced them. Wendy began her duties as secretary/administrative assistant in the Alumni Office in November 1993.She assists director Jane Adams Smith by maintaining communications and good relations with alumni, coordinating special alumni events,and working on the Inspire. Wendy calls Brazil home,having lived in Fortaleza with her missionary parents during her adolescent years. Her international experiences include six weeks in Israel with the Institute of Holy Land Studies in the summer of'89.The trip included a tour of western European countries. After graduating from Cedarville with a psychology major,she served as guest coordinator in the Admissions Office for one year, then moved to Akron in 1992 to marry Paul Orchard whom she had met in her parents' church there.Paul was assistant track and field coach with the University of Akron,and Wendy became a sales assistant with Jeter Systems Corporation. The next year Paul accepted a faculty position and responsibility as head coach for men's and women's track and field at Cedarville College,starting fall quarter 1993. Wendy and Paul enjoy water sports, hiking,racquetball,reading for selfimprovement,and traveling. The Orchards live in Xenia where they attend Emmanuel Baptist Church.
