2001 Alumni Scholarship Recipients Bark Row: Kimberly Eridon, Julia Wolters, Jennifer Weaver, Kelly O'Connell, Andrea Winship Front Row:Allison Mapes, Trisha Wabeke, Katie Kepner, Chars Nims Not Available: Andrew Bennett, Rebecca DeSantis, Brionna Raynor I nterest generated by the Alumni Scholarship and Grant Endowment Fund provides a S700 scholarship for an outstanding student enrolled in each academic department. The faculty of each department select their recipient. Biblical Education Trisha Wabeke is an international studies-missiology major and Spanish minor from Wyoming, Michigan. As a junior, she currently leads worship for World Mission Fellowship and participates in the Springfield Urban Light Ministry's Adopt-A-Block program. Following graduation, Trisha is considering attending seminary or working to pay off loans so she can head to the mission field. She is interested in working in a Spanish-speaking culture or with unreached people groups. I want to say thank you to the alumni for awarding me with this scholarship. I appreciate your commitment to Cedarville and your dedication to the students. Thank you again for the encouragement this award has been to me. Business Administration After graduation, Andrea Winship hopes to sit for her CPA and then serve in China as a business or English teacher. This sophomore accounting and finance double major plans to travel to China this summer, where she will teach English to university students with Worldwide Tentmakers, Inc. A native of Galesburg, Illinois, Andrea is active in Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE), Kappa Epsilon Alpha (business student organization), and Extra Mile, a ministry which builds relationships with needy families in the community. My sincere thanks go out to all the alumni for this wonderfulscholarship. It is an honor to be chosen as the recipient ofthe Alumni Scholarship Award in Business. Thanks again! Communication Arts Originally from North Tonawanda, New York, Rebecca DeSantis is a junior majoring in broadcasting. Her driving passion is to use her broadcast production knowledge in inner- city missions work following graduation. In the meantime, she is involved with Clowns for Christ, the student radio station, and the STARS abstinence promotion ministry. Thank you, alumni. I am forever grateful for this scholarship. I wish that I could meet you all to thank you personally. This gift is more than I ever could have asked for. Thank you so very much. 6Summer 2001 Education The daughter of David '69 and Carol Carr Nims'67, Chars Nims is active in a wealth of areas, including English education for non-English speakers, Earth Stewardship Organization (ESO), Spanish Club, World Missions Fellowship, and Symphonic Band. A junior middle childhood education major from Xenia, Ohio, Glaris hopes to work with children of other cultures someday, whether it be in a bilingual school, diverse community, English as a Second Language (ESL) classroom, or missionary school. I want to express to the scholarship donors my gratitude for your investment in Cedarville's continuing legacy. Thank you so much for the vision that you hold for continuing the strong biblical education that is given at Cedarville! I truly appreciate the opportunity to be nurtured as a future educator in such an incredible environment of biblical commitment, and I pray that the Lord will bless you with the knowledge that you are key in being the support aspect ofour great God's worldwide work! Engineering Andrew Bennett, a junior mechanical engineering major, came to Cedarville from Pettisville, Ohio. A member of Tau Beta Pi (National Engineering Honor Society), Drew hopes to jump into the mechanical engineering field after graduation. While at Cedarville, he plays on the baseball team and is highly involved in his Sunday school class, discipleship group, and prayer group. Thank you so much for your encouragement and support for Cedarville and for us as students. Your support and prayers motivate us to work harder to achieve the things God has for us. We appreciate all that you have done for us and hope that the Lord will bless you. Exercise and Sport Science A junior athletic training and physical education major, Julia Wolters is currently involved in Cedardiff elderly visitation, Student Academic Advisory Board, and intramurals. In addition, this Belmont, Wisconsin native traveled to Mexico this past spring break on a missions trip. Julia looks forward to working in outdoor recreational ministry for teenagers after graduation. Thank you very much for your gracious gift of money toward my education. Cedarville has been and continues to be a stretching experience that helps me grow and develop my spiritual walk with Christ. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else! Language and Literature No one can accuse Kimberly Eridon of being uninvolved. This junior from Bowling Green, Ohio is a tutor, president of Tau Delta Kappa (honor organization), writer for Cedars, editor for Cedarville Review, DJ for U99.5, and intramural sports participant. She holds or has held memberships in SIFE, Society for Technical Communication (STC), ESO, College Republicans, and the C.S. Lewis Society, to name just a few of her activities. A technical and professional communication major, Kimberly plans to attend graduate school and eventually teach at the college level. Every year God provides for me financially, and my parents appreciate this as much as Ida. He uses such wonderful people to help others, and I'm glad He was able to use you to help me attend this school that is so special to you; may He bless you for your generosity. Thank you!
