Communication Arts A member of the Alpha Beta Phi honorary theatre organization, Jillian Anderson has been a performer, crew supervisor, and student publicist for the University’s theatre program. The Hudson, Iowa native plans to play Mary Magdalene in this summer’s Black Hills Passion Play in South Dakota. Jillian is a junior communication arts and theatre major. Thank you to the generous alumni who have made this award possible. I am honored to be a recipient of this scholarship. Thank you for your dedication to excellence in the name of Christ. Education Sarah Britton looks forward to teaching fifth grade after she finishes her studies in middle childhood education with concentrations in math and science. A member of the Honors Program and Tau Delta Kappa honors organization, she has been involved in a number of tutoring ministries while at Cedarville. Sarah is from Louisville, Kentucky. I knew no one at Cedarville when I first came as a freshman, but quickly saw how so many people pour their lives into making this a great school and a great place to be. I want to thank all of the alumni who have helped shape Cedarville through their presence as students and their continued support of the University. Engineering As a junior mechanical engineering major, Joanna Hinks is president of the Cedarville chapter of the Society of Women Engineers. She is also a part of the SAE Supermileage team, the Tau Beta Pi national engineering honor society, and the ASME Old Guard Technical Poster competition. The Waukesha, Wisconsin native is the daughter of Scott ’79 and Beth Galbraith Hinks ’80. Thanks so much for providing this scholarship. I won’t forget your generosity and encouragement, and perhaps someday I’ll be able to follow your example for a future student. Exercise and Sport Science Jodi Kraker’s post-graduation plan is to move to her home state of Michigan and work in geriatric rehabilitation. While at Cedarville, the junior exercise science major has been a faithful member of the tennis team. Thank you so much for the award. I appreciate your involvement in the lives of students here at Cedarville. Thanks for the encouragement this award brought me. It was truly a blessing. E stablished by the Alumni Council and funded by alumni, the Alumni Scholarship and Grant ndowment Fund helps outstanding students complete their education at Cedarville University. Each academic department selects one student from their department who is deemed most deserving of academic recognition. The following are the students’ mini- biographies and notes of appreciation, which were written in March 2005. Athletic Training Sophomore Adam Ploeg views his athletic training studies as a ministry to athletes. The Grand Rapids, Michigan native would like to attend graduate school and then use his athletic training skills in a high school or college setting. I’d like to say thank you to the alumni for awarding me this scholarship. Your generosity and commitment to Cedarville have not been overlooked. I am entirely grateful for your investment and care in Cedarville. Thank you so much for this meaningful award. God bless! Biblical Education A double-major in preseminary Bible and applied psychology, Jonathan Lawler fills his spare moments with local church involvement and the men’s glee club (which recently returned from tours in Poland and Michigan). Although the Indianapolis native is only a freshman, he is formulating plans for attending seminary to prepare for the pastorate. I sincerely want to express my deepest thanks to the alumni and fellow believers who have provided the funding for the scholarship that I have been awarded. I am humbled by this honor and praise God for His faithfulness in providing for all my needs. We truly serve an awesome and wonderful God! Business Administration Having grown up overseas, Grace Gebert would like to work in her chosen field (global economics and international business) for a few years before “taking off ” into the world of missions. The junior is part of the department of business administration’s student council and events organization, and she has participated in Students in Free Enterprise as well as many other ministries. I cannot express how humbled I am to receive this award, and I desire that it be used to lift Jesus Christ up in any way possible. I would like to thank any and all who gave of their resources on my behalf. Thank you for your generosity!
