Inspire, Summer 2005
On May 7, Cedarville University celebrated its 109th commencement, conferring 614 degrees. The Class of 2005 included the first students to complete degrees in the University’s graphic design program. In his commencement address to an estimated crowd of 6,000, Dr. Bill Brown likened this moment in the graduates’ lives to a baton exchange in a race. “No matter how talented and prepared you are, if you don’t make the exchange, you’re disqualified,” he illustrated. He called the graduates to successfully pass on the baton to the next generation and “run with perseverance,” quoting from Hebrews 12:1-2. “We are to fix our eyes on Jesus,” he emphasized. Dr. Brown also told the graduates, “In a world growing darker and darker, let me encourage you to let your light shine. … God wants you to be a servant-leader and draw people to you because you have a fire inside.” Cedarville Celebrates 109th Commencement
