Around the World in 330 Days Moving to Costa Rica to work as a special education teacher and basketball coach was a bold step for Tricia Wegman ’08. Yet a greater adventure lay ahead. “After living in Costa Rica for two years, I started to get comfortable again,” she said, “but the Lord wasn’t about to allow that.” She was ready to see more of the world and gain a greater understanding of God’s work among every tribe and every tongue. She applied to be a racer in the unique global-missions trip called The World Race. Participants travel around the world, serving people in a variety of ministry settings. Soon after being accepted, she began trekking across the globe. Since September 2010, Tricia and her team have been on a quest to serve in 11 countries in 11 months doing 11 different ministries. They have traveled to such places as Nepal, India, Kenya, Uganda, Cambodia, Thailand, Romania, and Ukraine. Their adventures have included working in leprosy colonies, leading worship in a red-light district, rafting down the Nile, and hiking through the Himalayas. “Every day is in God’s hands,” Tricia said. “I’ve realized that we’ve been entrusted with spreading the Word, no matter what danger that puts us in — and in turn I am convinced that God will guard what I have entrusted to Him.” Learn more about The World Race at theworldrace.org.
