Jane Adams'84, director of alumni relations, and Ben Smith '86, assistant controller at Cedarville College, have announced their engagement. They will be married February 16, 1991, at Grace Baptist Church in Cedarville and will make their home in Xenia. Jane was a psychology major from Indianapolis, Indiana, and Ben, an accounting major from Jamestown, New York. LarneII Harris brought a dynamic concert to the campus and community of Cedarville on Friday, October 12. His enthusiastic performance brought the audience to their feet several times. Jerry '84 and Brenda(Blass'85) Gorham are excited to announce the birth of Kayleigh Elizabeth. When she arrived on April 19, 1990, she weighed 7 lbs. 3 oz. and measured 19 in. Mark '84 and Lori (Harner '85) Kaisand were blessed with a son, Derek Alan, on August 8, 1990, weighing 7 lbs. 7 oz. and measuring 20 in. Alison 3, and Brandon 2 are Derek's siblings. Daniel '84 and Linda(Ladygo '84) Wallace welcomed Joseph Daniel on April 16, 1990. The baby weighed 6 lbs. 3 oz. and measured 19 in. Dan is working on a doctorate at the University of Maryland. Kurt'84 and Faye(Horton '82) Wilcox were thrilled with the arrival of Spencer Drew on September 23, 1990, weighing 6 lbs. 3 oz. and measuring 20 in. Kaleb is a part of the welcoming committee. Jim '85 and Melody Benedict happily announce the birth of Elisabeth Marie born on June 28, 1990. She weighed 7 lbs. 12 oz. and was 20 1/4 in. long. Stephen 3, is her brother. Jack '85 and Debra Horner are delighted with Drew Landon who arrived on August 25, 1990. Steve '85 and Ruth (Mason '86) Mulligan proudly announce the birth of Bradley Mark, born June 28, 1990. He was 7 lbs. 11 oz. David 3, is his brother. Jeff and Ginny(Davis '85)Salomon happily announce the birth of Chad Daniel, born on May 25, 1990, weighing 6 lbs. 15 oz. Chad was 19 1/2 in. long and joins Brent 4. Duane and Karel(Dobbel '85) Schweitzer announced the birth of Zachary Taylor on August 9, 1990. He weighed 6 lbs. Charles'85 and Beth (Hornbeck '85)Shepherd were doubly thrilled with the birth of Alexander Everett, 5 lbs. 1 oz., 18 1/2 in. and Nolan Charles,4 lbs. 15 oz., 17 1/2 in. born on October 9, 1990. Chester 2, is happy with two new playmates. Jeff and Lori(Hess'85)Smejkal welcomed Samuel Konrad, 11 lbs. 6 oz. on August 17, 1990. Rod '86 and Cindy (Robinette '84) Fillinger presented to Emily 2, a sister, Meghan Elise, on May 10, 1990. Meghan weighed 7 lbs. 2 3/4 oz. and was 20 3/4 in. long. Dean and Jacqui(Ward '86) Terry rejoice in the birth of Jeffrey Dean,7 lbs. 12 oz., 20 in. born on August 17, 1990. He joins Jeremy 20 months. David '86 and Marlene (Siefert'86) Williams have doubled up on everything since the birth of Travis Paul and Tyler David on June 27, 1990. Travis weighed 6 lbs. 1 oz. and was 19 1/4 in. and Tyler was6 lbs. 4 oz. and 19 in. Steve and Cathy(Lombard '87) Aviles happily announce the birth of Brian Matthew, born on September 2, 1990, and weighing in at 7 lbs. 12 oz. He was 20 in. long. Doug and Tamra (Bielski '87) Miller lovingly announce the arrival of Megan Noel born on September 22, 1990. She weighed 8 lbs. 10 oz. and was 21 in. Doug '87 and Robin(Young '87) Whittenburg wel- comed Brandt Douglas into the world on September 2, 1990, to join Brittaney 3, and Brooklyn, 21 months. Brandt weighed 5 lbs. 13 1/2 oz. Tim '87 and Kim (Kirby '83) Worosher were rejoicing in the arrival of Kara Collins and Tanner Charles on August 31, 1990. Kara weighed 6 lbs. 11 oz. and was 19 in., while Tanner duplicated those stats. Tyler 2, has two new friends. Brian '88 and Donna(Helm '88) Hultz are happy to announce the arrival of Kyle born on August 5, 1990, and weighing 7 lbs. He was 20 in. long. Brian is in manage- ment training for Graco Children's Products in Pennsylvania. David and Jeanne (McCarrell '88)Jackson are excited to share the news of the birth of Hanna Marie who weighed 7 lbs. 5 oz. and measured 19 1/2 in. when she arrived on April 21, 1990. Tony and Theresa(Henry '88) Phillips are delighted to announce the birth of Jessica Nicole born October 4, 1990. Jessica weighed 8 lbs. 15 oz and measured 21 1/2 in. long. Bruce '88 and Terri (Davis'80)Sparks, Tim, Katie, and Steven welcomed Benjamin Mark on February 25, 1990. He weighed 8 lbs. 3 oz. Bruce will begin serving as senior pastor of Newhall Baptist Church, Wyoming, Michigan, as of January 1, 1991. He has served as associate pastor for four years. Ron '89 and Cheri Hayes welcomed Heather Laurae on June 8, 1990. She weighed 7 lbs and was 18 1/2 in. long. Brian '89 and Beth Ann Weber were thrilled with the arrival of Josiah Neil on July 14, 1990. He weighed 7 lbs. 11 oz. and measured 201/4 in. Focus on the Field Jeannie Lockerbie '61 directed the translation from English to Bengali of Called To Be Saints, a commentary on I Corinthians by Dr. Robert Gromacki, chairman of the Department of Biblical Education and professor of Bible and Greek. Jeannie is a missionary with ABWE (Association for World Evangelism) in Bangladesh. Verna Glander '66 spent some fruitful years in Nigeria with SIM (Sudan Interior Mission) and then went to Kenya with AIM (African Inland Mission). Returning to the United States in 1978, Verna worked as a secretary in Milwaukee until her retirement in May of 1987. She is now a guest helper in the computer department at Wycliffe Bible Translators in Tucson, Arizona. Chuck '67 and Beverly Truxton are home on leave from Nigeria until January 1991. Earl '77 and Marilyn Shaffer are rejoicing with The Good Shepherd Baptist Church in Sidney, Ohio, as they celebrate their second anniversary. The attendance averages 90 to 100. The Shaffers, serving short-term with Evangelical Baptist Missions, planted the church. John '79 and Michele(Meeker '79) Morgan, on furlough from Togo, Africa, are in the midst of plans to return in August 1991. Michele has returned to nursing since the children are in school. This helps financially and is sharpening her skills for the mission hospital in Togo. Pray for the additional support of $700 per month. Lynell Smith '88 worked as a secretary at Word of Life Fellowship until January 1990, when she made applica- tion to ABWE for missionary service. She has since completed candidate school and is an appointee to Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Before starting her prefield ministry, Lynell is serving at Cedar Heights Baptist Church in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Lynell is praising the Lord for the great education and ministry opportunities she had at Cedarville College. Deaths Robert M. Dean '29 died October 15, 1990, in Waynesville, Ohio. Mr. Dean was 84. He is survived by his cousins, Catharine and Anne Bell Dean of Jamestown, Ohio. Lucy Lyons'60 went home to be with the Lord on September 14, 1990, after a long bout with cancer. She began her teaching career in Medina, Ohio, and earned a master's degree in remedial reading from Kent State University. In 1967 Lucy moved to Yucaipa, California, and for the next 22 years taught at Yucaipa Elementary School. James Joiner '65 was killed in a glider plane accident on February 24, 1990. He was 54 and an elementary teacher. Jim is survived by his wife, Priscilla (Fleming '64). Sympathy is extended to Brent and Rose Ann (Branham '83) Miesse and their son Andrew 3 in the loss of their daughter and sister. Eleven-month-old Nikki had leukemia.
