Ruby Jeremiah Servant ofthe Lord Ruby Lathrop Jeremiah 1915-1991 61 love the Lord, because He hath heard my voice and my supplications. Because He hath inclined His ear unto me,therefore will I call upon Film as long as I live"(Psalm 116:1-2). Ruby Lathrop Jeremiah claimed this scripture as her life verse. The wife ofDr.James T.Jeremiah for almost55 years, she was his helpmate as he served in the pastorate,as the president ofCedarville College, and later as chancellor ofthe College. She was mother to their four children and grandmother to 13. When Cedarville College was small and struggling, Mrs.Jeremiah served in many capacities: she operated the post office and the print shop;she prepared faculty-staff dinners and served them in her garage;she started a student wives'fellowship and a Women's Auxiliary; she organized efforts to provide things like lounge furniture, mattress pads, stage curtains, and an organ for the chapel. Asshe accompanied her husband on his Holy Land tours, she faithfully chronicled the thousands ofpictures he shotfor presenta- tions and classes. In a letter to friends,Dr.Jeremiah said, Ruby always hada personal interest in the...college young people....Because ofthis concern the Women'sFellowship of the college established the Ruby Jeremiah Scholarship Fund. Moneyfrom thisfund is awarded annually to Cedarville College women who qualify. We encourage ourfriends to continue supporting thisfund with their prayersand gifts.
