During Cedarville's Fall Bible Conference September 28 to October 2, Dr. Erwin Lutzer challenged the college family and friends to a life of purity in Jesus Christ. Since 1980 Dr. Lutzer has served as senior pastor of the Moody Church in Chicago. He is featured on "The Moody Church Hour"and "Songs in the Night" radio programs.The author of numerous books, he is a popular speaker at Bible conferences and seminars throughout the United States. Chad Bresson'86 has joined the staff of CDR Radio Network as news director. Bresson serves as news anchor on "Morning Praise"each weekday morning and coordinates the news gathering activities of the network in Ohio, Indiana,and Kentucky. He previously worked as news director at WCVC in Tallahassee, Florida. The CDR Radio Network promoted staff member Eric Johnson'91 to "Morning Praise" host. Johnson is also music director and production supervisor for the noncommercial network. A lumnotes CLASS NEWS 60s Bogle(Bo)Standifer'62 recently celebrated 20 years as the vice president offinance for the American Baptist Assembly(ABA)located in Ripon,Wisconsin. Bo was one ofthe first five graduates ofthe Business Administration Department ofCedarville College and worked for 10 years in accounting-related industry before going to ABA.In his position as vice president,Bo oversees accounting, personnel,food service, bookstore, and printing departments.Bo and his wife, Bonnie,have two children and four grandchildren. Don Allerton'68 is the laboratory manager of an analytical chemical laboratory at Laidlaw Environmental Services,a company that treats and disposes industrial manufacturing wastes. Don and his wife,Edith(Wright '71N),have two sons: Aaron,a Desert Storm Veteran who will be discharged soon from the U.S. Navy,and Adam,a high school senior. Don participated in the construction and finishing of an authentic wooden sailing ship,the Santa Maria, which is a full-scale reproduction of Christopher Columbus'ship. He volunteers on the weekends as an interpreter and guide aboard the ship. Mike Hamilton'68 has been promoted to regional sales manager for ESKCO,Inc. He will be manager over Charlotte, North Carolina; Atlanta,Georgia; Dayton, Ohio;and Indianapolis,Indiana. Mike is the chairperson ofthe Cedarville College Alumni Council and has two sons enrolled at Cedarville. Mike and his wife,Carol (Simonetti'68), will be relocating to Atlanta, Georgia. Bill McVey'68founded the Bible Academic Centers for Education (B.A.C.E.)in Cleveland,Ohio. B.A.C.E.'s purpose is to teach English as a second language to Russian Baptist believers on the west side of Cleveland. Bill owns and operates J & J Painting and his wife, Cindy(Eckart'70N),teaches sixth grade at Cedar Hill Christian School.The McVey's have two children,Joy,a sophomore at Cedarville,and Jason,a senior at Orange Christian Academy. Richard Cypher'69 has completed the graduate management program at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He received his master of management degree in June, 1992. 70s Joan Dautel'70 is presently serving a second four-year term on the Fairborn city council. She was first elected in 1987 and re-elected in 1991 to serve a concurrent two- year term as deputy mayor of the city of Fairborn. Before becoming deputy mayor,Joan was a member ofthe Fairborn Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and served on the Zoning Board of Appeals. Miss Dautel is a member of the Greene County Planning Commission as Fairborn's representative. Cathy Shaw Preibisch'72 received a second place award from the Greene County Rose Society during its annual show on September 20, 1992 in Xenia,Ohio.The prize winner,"American Pride," a red rose,is one of twenty hybrid teas grown in Cathy's large garden. She and her husband,Dick,live in Xenia. Edward Gibbons'73 is beginning his twentieth year in the Fairborn City Schools in Fairborn,Ohio. He has taught fifth grade and is currently assistant principal at Baker Junior High School. Ed and his wife,Sandy,have two children, Aaron, 11,and Megan,9. Tim Kaufman'75 is active in a concert ministry with an average of 105 concerts a year. The 1992 season was highlighted with a trip to Hungary in conjunction with Word of Life for their biannual Euro-youth missions conference.Tim Kaufman Ministries,Inc. is located in Sellersville, Pennsylvania.Tim and his wife, Alicia, live in Orlando,Florida with their three daughters, Alexandra and Amber,7,Sophia,2,and their son. Ivan Kristian. born November 30, 1991. Debra L.Martin'77 has been named winner ofthe national Julia Henderson Award by Women in Public Administration (WPA).The WPA is a section of the American Society for Public Administration,a 54-year-old national association for public administration scholars and practitioners promoting excellence in public service. Debra was the 1990-91 National President of WPA,and under her leadership, unprecedented accomplishments occurred. She negotiated with Cleveland State University to house the WPA National Archives and established the Women's Hall ofFame.Debra is also the coordinator of Prevention and Public Information Services for Genesee County Community Mental Health near Flint, Michigan where she resides. Debra Leeke McCarty'77 and her husband, Michael, are living in Clarkston, Washington.In September 1990, Debra was sent to Saudi Arabia as a medical officer. She is out ofthe service now and shares a private family physician practice with her husband. SOs Janne!! Decker'81 is a partner with the Decker,Decker,& Dudick law firm in Forty Fort, Pennsylvania. Kimberly Dodds Rostorfer'82 received her master's degree in reading from Otterbein College in June 1992. She teaches first grade at Whittier Elementary School in Westerville,Ohio. Chris Felt'83 is pursuing an M.A.in national security affairs at the Naval Postgraduate School.Chris is in the Air Force and has recently moved from Hawaii to Monterey,California. In June 1993,he will begin language training in Arabic at the Defense Language School, which will qualify him as a middle east specialist. Pam McKay Saucier'83 received her master's degree in special education from Kent State University in August. She has been a special education teacher in the Brunswick,Ohio school system for the past five years. Pam and her husband,John,live in Streetsboro,Ohio. David Schonfeld'83 received his Doctor ofLaws degree from the Western State University College ofLaw in Irvine, California. While in law school,Dave received the Director's Scholarship. He and his wife,Sherri(Bragg '83), have a son,Joshua,2,and live in Fullerton, California. Dave was admitted to the California State Bar in June and is an attorney working in the areas of civil litigation, personal injury,family law,and criminal law. Arlan Palmer'84 received his master ofdivinity degree from Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary in May.Arlan is the pastor of Silvis Heights Baptist Church in Silvis, Illinois. Jenniene Rodriguez Barfell'85N and her husband, Sam,have moved to Anderson,Indiana, where Sam is the administrator for Liberty Christian School. Sharon Scouten Price'85 is working at the University ofRio Grande as the director ofthe child development center. She and her husband,Randy,are also in the process of adopting two children, Angela,2 1/2, and Chad,2. The Prices live in Barbersville, West Virginia and will relocate to Rio Grande when the adoptions are complete. Laura Wuestner Anthony'86 was promoted to marketing manager at Castex Industries,Inc. in January 1991.She and her husband, Mark '86,live in Holland, Michigan. Kevin Shaw'87 has been named director of marketing and public relations at the Wharton Center for Performing Arts at Michigan State University. Kevin has been an assistant sports information director for MSU since 1990.In his new post, Kevin will oversee the marketing and public relations efforts ofthe cultural center which serves both the MSU campus and the community.He and his wife,Shawna(Denney '87),live in Lansing, Michigan with their son,Dylan, 1, and are expecting their second child this fall. Jim Jacobs'88 graduated from The Ohio State Medical School in June and is doing his residency in Internal Medicine at North Carolina Medical Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. His wife,Kim(Bailey'90)is a teacher's assistant in the Durham,North Carolina school system. Cory Neumann'88 graduated from The Ohio State University College of Medicine in June 1992.He is working as a family practice resident at Riverside Hospital in Columbus,Ohio. His wife, Andrea(Snyder '87),teaches math at Ft. Hayes Arts and Academic High School in Columbus. 90s Tim Birch '90 is the group sales coordinator for the Cleveland Cavaliers. He works at the coliseum and lives in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Kevin Howells'90 is now working as the assistant director of direct marketing for the Alzheimer's Association in Chicago,Illinois. Steve Lesko'90 graduated with a master ofscience degree in health and physical education with an emphasis on sports psychology in May 1992from Springfield College in Massachusetts. Scott'92N and Cynthia Palacios Sommerfeld'92 have moved to Westwood,New Jersey. Cynthia is teaching fifth grade at Hackensack Christian School and Scott is in the advertising department of his family business, Roofer Supplies. Mark is a graduate ofColumbia Bible College and teaches in the middle school at Worthington Christian School where Mary also teaches fourth grade. The Winklers live in Columbus,Ohio. Cheryl Coates'81 and Gary Hunt exchanged wedding vows on August 15, 1992 at Berwick Bible Church in Berwick,Pennsylvania.They live in Tacoma, Washington. Bruce Richards'85 and Emily Baur vowed their lives to one another on October 1, 1992 at Grace Baptist Church in Westerville,Ohio. Rose Ann Nemecek'86 and Raymond Cox were united as one on March 28, 1992 in Florida. Rose Ann is a nurse and she and her husband live in Sunrise, Florida. Marla Fuller'87 and Mark Anderson were married on August 1, 1992 at Calvary Baptist Church in South Bend, Indiana. They live in Elkhart,Indiana. Phil Hohulin'87 and Jennifer Showalter became husband and wife on June 20, 1992 at First Christian Church in Mishawaka,Indiana. Jennifer is a graduate of Indiana University.The Hohulins are living in Jacksonville, Florida, where Phil is attending seminary and Jennifer works for General Electric Capital Corporation. Neal Wallace'90 and Kathi Harris '87 took their marriage vows before the Lord on September 7, 1991. Only nine months earlier, Kathi was rushed to the hospital for emergency neurosurgery on a brain tumor.The Wallaces praise the Lord for His healing on Kathi. The couple live in Xenia,Ohio. Michelle Prince'89 and Joey Derting exchanged wedding vows on May 8, 1992 at New Life Church in Menlo Park,California. The Dertings honeymooned in Monterey and currently live in the San Francisco Bay area. Johanna Burtis'90 and Todd Fogle'92 became one in Christ on October 10, 1992 at North Syracuse Baptist Church in North Syracuse,New York. Susan Chitwood'90 and Philip Oliver were married on August 1, 1992. Michael Cushman'90 and Amanda Percival were united in marriage on June 13, 1992 in Bangor, Maine. Michael is a music teacher at Caravel Middle School in Carmel, Maine.His wife teaches a string program in Brewer, Maine and is also the assistant principal second violinist in the Bangor Symphony Orchestra. Amanda graduated from the University of Maine in 1986.The Cushmans are active at Calvary Baptist Church where they arrange music for the church orchestra and band.
