Jeff is senior annual fund officer in the Development Division. Among the children's relatives are Uncle Lynn Brock '68, director of library services, Aunt Donna Brock'68N,former secretary in the Department of Science and Mathematics,and Cousin Steve Brock '93, audio-visual coordinator at the College. Their late grandfather is Dr. William A. Brock,for whom Brock Hall was named. A lumnotes CLASS NEWS 20s Carl'29 and Margaret Chandler Frazier'29 celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. They were married on August 19, 1931 at Shaker Heights Baptist Church in Cleveland,Ohio. Carl is 91 and Margaret is 86. While students at Cedarville,both were very active serving as editor ofthe yearbook and president ofthe class of 1929. Margaret was also crowned May Queen during her senior year. They retired in 1969 after collectively teaching for 65 years in Union,Preble,and Hamilton County Schools.They have been active in retirement with their home,garden,travel,and family— two daughters, nine grandchildren,and seven great-grandchildren. Congratulations,Carl and Margaret! 70s J.Edward Bates'73 is assistant professor of accounting at Mountain Empire Community College in Big Stone Gap,Virginia.He has been appointed to serve a three-year term on the board of directors for the Accreditation Council for Accountancy&Taxation. He began serving on July 1, 1993 as an education-member. Ted Gifford'74 was one oftwenty-four high school English teachers from throughout the country chosen to participate in a Summer Institute "Shakespeare in Ashland: Teaching from Performance." Jayne Eberling Schooler'74 is the author of The Whole Life Adoption Book,a recently released publication on realistic advice for building a healthy adoptive family. Jayne is the adoption coordinator for Warren County Children's Services in Lebanon,Ohio and has been involved with the agency since 1981.In 1983,Jayne and her husband,David,pastor of the West Carrollton Church ofthe Nazarene, adopted their sixteen-year-old foster son. Jayne's dream for her interests and publications in the area offoster care is to develop a national conference and network for Christian adoptive families. Jayne has published over 125 articles and presents workshops that emphasize training needs offoster and adoptive parents. Don Myers,Jr.'76 has been named plant manager at LANDOLL,Inc. in Ashland,Ohio. LANDOLL is one ofthe nation's leading publishers ofchildren's books.Don oversees a 500,000 square-foot factory operation. H.Dianne MontsJanzen'78 has been re- elected co-chair ofthe Macon County Human Service Agency Consortium in Decatur,IL.She also chairs the Macon County Red Ribbon Campaign for Drug Abuse Prevention as education coordinator for the State's Attorney's Office. Mahlon Merchant's'78 creative two-page spread for Monte Zinn's anniversary celebration and sale was recognized as the"Best Automotive Advertising." George Bowser'78 has a private practice as a marriage/family/child counselor in Pasadena, California. Jo Ellen Leekes'79 was named Pattonville Teacher ofthe Year for 1993.The school district is located in the North West St. Louis County with approximately 6,500 students. 80s Carey Weaver'81 is now the principal of Kansas City Christian Academy.He completed his master's degree in education in 1987.He and his wife,Trudy Tangblade'81 have three children: Alyssa 5,Jeremy 2,and Christen, 1. Larry Green'82 returned to campus on September 22,1993 to speak at a leadership prayer breakfast. His audience consisted of student leaders of organizations, administrators, and key faculty and staff. Larry currently pastors the Northland Baptist Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan. John R.Smith'82 has taken a new position as assistant director offinancial aid at Alfred University in Alfred,NY.His wife, Michele Wozniak'80,is expecting their second child. Donna Payne VanLiere'89 has written the script for a youth musical titled "The Extra Mile" published by Benson Music Company. The musical was created by Steven V.Taylor and Donna and has a corresponding Bible study written by Al Denson.She and her husband, Troy'89,live in Antioch,Tennessee. Roger'89 and Sandy Weaver Foreman'89 are both teaching in Maine this school year. Roger teaches seventh and eighth grade English and language arts at Central School in Nobelboro, Maine.Sandy teaches grades 5-12 in vocal music at Wiscasset Junior High and High School.The Foremans live in Bath,Maine. Duane B.Priddy Jr.'90 has won the Department ofDefense Augmentation Award for Science and Engineering for his Ph.D. research at Virginia Tech.He has also been awarded the Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistant Award and holds eight publications and one patent. He will receive his Ph.D.in polymer chemistry in May 1994.Duane is also the director of music and teaches children's Sunday school at Blacksburg Christian Fellowship. Angela,an English/professional writing major, works at Moody Press in Chicago, Illinois as product manager. David received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering at Northwestern University and works as an engineer for Computer Identics Corporation in Schaumburg,Illinois. Kevin Lee Sperry'88 and Rebecca Ruth Lark took their marriage vows before the Lord on June 12, 1993 at Grace Baptist Church in Cumberland,Maryland.The Sperrys live in Fort Ashby,West Virginia.
