From The Director's Chair W elcome to Alumni Hall! It is a magnificant entrance to the Dixon Ministry Center and named to honor all 17,590 members of the Cedarville College Alumni Association. Several reunion and graduating classes have given gifts befitting this building—"The Jeremiah Chapel" lettering, class of 1976;the 25-year reunion financial contribution, class of 1971;the alumni recognition plaque, class of 1991;the brass college seal, class of 1995; and the pulpit furniture, class of 1996. In total, almost 2,000 alumni have given over $500,000 for this newest facility. We are praying for other alumni to join this effort with any size gift. We also encourage you to make a trip to campus to see the Dixon Ministry Center and Alumni Hall for yourself! Enjoy this blessed holiday season, Jane Adams Smith '84 Director ofAlumni Relations Welcome New Alumni Council Members he Cedarville College Alumni Association is pleased to welcome our newest additions to the Alumni Council, Sherri Watson Smith '86 and David Bennett'87! Sherri and David will join the Alumni Council to serve four-year terms,as stated by the Alumni Association Constitution. Rotating offthe Alumni Council after serving faithfully for four years are Angela Cooke Jackson'84 and DeMaurice Smith'85. After earning her degree in English with an emphasis in professional writing, Sherri Watson Smith'86 remained at Cedarville College as an admissions coordinator and later as an annual fund officer. She has been published several times in The Sunday School Planner for Scripture Press Publications and is a contributing writer to her church newsletter. Currently the director of Moody Institute of Science in Chicago,Sherri speaks at Sunday school conventions and to women's groups. She is of First Baptist Church in Downers Grove, where her husband,John,is the associate pastor of education. She teaches a women's Sunday school class, directs Awana for fifth- and sixth-grade girls, co-leads the college and career group,sings in the choir, participates on a drama team,and serves in a mentoring program.John and Sherri live in Westmont,Illinois. Sherri represents Cedarville College at local college fairs and has been a member ofthe Torch Club since 1991. David Bennett'87 graduated from Cedarville with degrees in English and preseminary Bible. He went on to earn a master of theology degree from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1991 and a master's degree in pastoral counseling from Ashland University in 1995.For five years he pastored The Little Church in the Vale near Cleveland,Ohio.He is now employed as a financial consultant with Merrill Lynch in Columbus,Ohio.David uses his skills as financial planner to present biblically-based seminars on estate planning,charitable giving,retirement planning,and debt reduction. This year, he has presented more than 40seminars in area churches. A member of Karl Road Baptist Church,David teaches Sunday school, participates on a drama team,ushers,and helps with Vacation Bible School. David and his wife, Kathy,are rearing their two sons, Joel(3)and Jay(1),in Reynoldsburg, Ohio.
