I think it is important to get lots offeedback and to be an avid listener at the onset to find out how we can serve alumni even more effectively." Heritage Corner Heritage Alumna Begins Scholarship Fund C edarville College's oldest living alumna,Hazel Williams Elder'24, is a remarkable woman.Dedicating her life to teaching, Mrs.Elder became well-known for her integrity and fairness to her students in Greene County throughout her teaching career. Many Cedarville College alumni cite Hazel Elder as the source of their encouragement to attend Cedarville College. In August 1997, Nathan Elder,Hazel's husband announced his desire to establish a scholarship for Cedarville College in the Elder name. The scholarship, funded by a gift of stock,is available to assist students pursuing an academic program in English or education at Cedarville College. Hazel's lifetime love for teaching is carried on by helping today's young men and women who desire to teach. The student receiving the scholarship must maintain a cumulative grade average of 3.0 or above and demonstrate a financial need. The same recipient may receive the scholarship three years in a row.The scholarship must be used for tuition, room, board, and fees. The Nathan and Hazel Elder Scholarship Fund demonstrates a growing trend among Cedarville College alumni. Many who have had a lifelong interest in Cedarville College are finding a sense of fulfillment by reinvesting in their alma mater. Capital gains tax benefits also are inherent of stock gifts and a benefit to the donor. Hazel Elder states,"We want God to be glorified, not us,as this scholarship fund may be able to help Cedarville College students today." TakeMe Out To The Ballgame!
