D emember those days when you "hit the hardwood" as a Yellow Jacket basketball player? Or when you stood in the stands as a spirited fan and cheered the Jackets to victory? Prepare for Yellow Jacket fever to strike the campus of Cedarville College during Alumni Basketball Weekend, January 30-31. The Friday evening concert by the Cedarville College Symphonic Band and Brass Choir, brunch for former players and their families, pep band reunion, and alumni and varsity games will create plenty of excitement! Watch your mail in early January for more details and reservation information for this fun-filled weekend! E ach September, the Cedarville College school year begins with the Fall Bible Conference. This year's speaker, Dr. Warren Wiersbe, shared from the book of Hebrews and from John 17 as he challenged students to be holy and to spend time in prayer. Junior Josh Berrus from Bellefonte, Pennsylvania was challenged by Wiersbe's heart for God, his caring spirit, and his confidence in the Word of God. Josh shares from his notes,"What held Christ on the cross was not just love, but obedience to God and the promise of heaven. That should admonish us to holy living." redorville continues to Lattract top Christian young people from across the nation. Freshman Jennifer lutes is one such student who chose Cedarville College for its engineering program after achieving a perfect score on both the ACT and the SAT."I know Cedarville is where God wants me," Jennifer says confidently."I don't know of anywhere I would rather be, or anywhere I could get a better education." Jennifer enjoys the challenge of the honors program (now an option for engineering students) and making new friends. She is also involved in the Cedar Cliff Elderly Apartments visitation ministry and works with the two and three year olds at Grace Baptist Church. CDR Radio Network The CDR Radio Network began celebrating 35 years of broadcasting during its October Ingathering '97 season. General manager Paul Gathany'63 has chosen the theme "Magnifying Christ" for the year-long celebration. Gathany, along with Cedarville College Chancellor Dr. James T. Jeremiah '7311, veteran broadcaster and pastor Dr. David Jeremiah '63, and former Cedarville faculty member Dr. John Reed founded the station in the fall of 1962."FM broadcasting was in its infancy in those days," notes Gathany. He remembers the early marketing efforts of the staff as being quite difficult. "We even had to sell special receivers so people could listen to our programs. We thank God for the acceptance of FM broadcasting over the years and for those who have found new hope through Christian broadcasting in particular," he said. CDR Radio Network operates three full-time, full-service Christian stations and three translator repeater stations. In addition to operating FM stations in the United States,(DR Radio also supports the efforts of several dozen organizations which communicate biblical principles on six continents. The staff produces two radio programs distributed to other stations across the country. A Minute for the Church, hosted by Dr. David Drullinger, encourages local church members to take an active role in their assembly, while The Senior Advantage with Dr. James T. Jeremiah '73H has a similar goal with senior citizens. 8 WINTER'97 Columbus,Ohio The Columbus Zoo was the location for a gathering of more than 40 Columbus area alumni, family and friends on September 20, 1997.
