A lumnotes CLASS NEWS 40s Harold '46 and Charlotte Collins Stormont'49 celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary on August 12, 1999.They reside in Cedarville, Ohio. 50s Richard Johnson '59 and his wife, Beverly, live in Waukon, Iowa, where Richard has been the interim pastor at First Baptist Church for two years. 60s Stephen Brown'67 has been named the 1999 recipient of the Emily Russel Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to Christian librarianship. Steve is the catalog librarian at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana. He presently serves as associate editor of Christian PeriodicalIndex. 70s Alice Moorman Brown'70 and her husband, Charles, celebrated their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary on August 24, 1999.They enjoyed a trip to a resort lodge in Kentucky. Charles is a truck driver for R & L Carriers, and Alice is a former teacher. They reside in Xenia, Ohio. Col. John Clauer'72 has assumed duties as the commanding officer and professor of naval sciences at the University of Pennsylvania and Villanova University. The combined enrollment of the two units is over 250 midshipmen. He and his wife, Ruth Moats Clauer'72N, have three children and two grandchildren. Jayne Eberling Schooler'74 shares that her third book, Mystery History: Helping Your Foster/Adopted Child Understand the Past, will be published by Greenwood Publishers in January. She has had many opportunities to speak across the country on adoption and family life, and her first book, The Whole Life Adoption Book, has been translated overseas. 80s Stan Matthews'80 and his wife, Gwen, celebrated their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary on August 3, 1999.Stan is a construction engineer, and Gwen works in a Christmas shop. They live in Xenia, Ohio and have five children. Valerie Whisler'83 received her master's degree in sports science from Ashland University in May 1998. John Balaicuis'84 is in his second year of medical school at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His wife, Anne, is the coordinator of undergraduate education for the department of surgery at Thomas Jefferson University. Rhoda Sommers'84 received her doctorate of philosophy in curriculum and instruction from Andrews University in August 1999. Rhoda previously received her master's degree from Grace Theological Seminary. She is teaching at Mt. Vernon Nazarene College in Ohio. Alumni Use Their Drama Skills At "Marriage Builders" Donna Payne Vanliere'89 and Gary Clemmer'90 are touring the U.S. with Gary Smalley, Larry Crabb, Neil Clark Warren, and others as part of "Marriage Builders," a two-day conference for married couples. As co-emcees for the event, Donna and Gary perform dramatic sketches before each speaker. Donna, who wrote the scripts for the conference, is a two-time Dove Award nominee for her books, such as Real Life Conversations. A Collection Inspired by Steven Curtis Chapman, her written materials for contemporary Christian artists; and her sketchwriting. She has been providing drama materials for the church since graduating from Cedarville."Who knew how valuable all that speech, drama, and forensics training at Cedarville would be?" she shared."The whole expereience is a true gift from God." Gary is a three-year veteran of The Jeremiah People, a Christian drama and music team that performs at churches and Christian colleges."My training at Cedarville and in the Jeremiah People was tremendous preparation for the Marriage Builders events," he explained. "I feel very blessed and fortunate to be part of these events.' Gary, Donna, and Donna's husband, Troy '89N, are the founders of Playworks, a company that provides entertainment for corporate events, conventions, and fundraisers. Jon'85 and Donna Birch Beight'84N and Mark'85 and Colleen Rockey Craig'85 celebrated the six-year anniversary of starting Friendship Baptist Church by breaking ground on their first building project in September. Jon and Mark are the pastor and senior pastor, respectively. The church is located in Greenwood, Indiana. Mark Price'85 received his master of business administration degree from Notre Dame. He also has received his master of divinity and master of theology degrees from Grace Theological Seminary. Mark is a production manager with Zimmer in Warsaw, Indiana. Katherine Loder Baker'86 has received her doctorate in education from Oklahoma State University. She resides in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Mark Horne'86 was recently elected to the board of directors at Shepherd's Ministries. He is senior vice president and chief financial officer of Montronix, Inc. His wife, Erin Coffman Horne'87,enjoys working at home with their three children, Elizabeth (6), Griffin (4), and Amanda(2), in Dexter, Michigan. They are members of Huron Hills Baptist Church in Ann Arbor. Sue Baldis Carpenter'89 has been named head softball coach at Cedarville College. She and her husband, Kevin Carpenter '89, have two sons, Nick(5)and Josh (2). Kevin is the senior network technician at Cedarville College. Tim Wagner'89 is the pastor of youth and Christian education at Faith Fellowship Church in Cincinnati, Ohio. His wife, Shari Leach Wagner'88,stays at home and is involved with the church ministries. 90s Gary Hoag'90 serves as the director of development at Colorado Christian University. He and his wife, Jenni Pickrell Hoag'90,and their two children,Sammy and Sophie, reside in Littleton, Colorado. Bonnie Schafer Klein '90 was recently promoted to vice president of finance for Setzer Corporation. She and her husband, Robert, reside in Lebanon, Ohio. Leigh Ann Rogge Pagnard'92 is a vice president at Belcan Tech Services in Cincinnati, Ohio. She and her husband, Charlie Pagnard '91,reside in Maineville, Ohio. Todd Stach '94 has been promoted to station manager at 88.7 WAY-FM in Fort Myers, Florida, where he had been operations director for one year. Todd and his wife, Hillary Rinehart Stach '95,and their son, Bailey (2), live in Cape Coral, Florida. Phil Graves'95 is teaching second grade at Grace Christian Academy in Taipei, Taiwan. Adam Kane'97N teaches fifth grade in the Yorktown Public School system. He and his wife, Billie Jo, and their son, Schyler (1), live in Daleville, Indiana. Jason Kaufman'97 has accepted a position as the assistant sports information director at Western Illinois University(WIU)in Macomb, Illinois. He recently received his master of science degree in sport management from WILL Matt Sherwood'97 has received a master's degree in English at Texas A&M University and is starting the doctorate program. He is also an English professor and the assistant coordinator for technical writing programs at Texas A&M. Nicole Cooley'98 teaches music at Heritage Elementary along with being the concert mistress of the West Chester Symphony Orchestra and a substitute for the Northern Kentucky Symphony Orchestra. She also gives private music lessons and is taking graduate classes for the Orff- Schulwerk level 1 certification. Dan Bosworth'99 is in a management training program at Cardone. When finished, he will hold the position of manufacturing leader, which is the manager of a production line. He lives in Morrisville, Pennsylvania. ONE IN CHRIST Jennifer McCreary'90 and Timothy Poitras were married September 4, 1998 in limestone, Maine. Jennifer is a middle level teacher at Limestone Community School, and Timothy is a manager of Poitras Service, Inc. Paul Savard'90 and Angie Rudy were married November 14, 1998. Paul is an athletic trainer at Samaritan North Health Center in Dayton, Ohio. Laurel Born '92 and David Pinson were married May 22, 1999 and honeymooned in Hawaii. Laurel is a senior associate at the public accounting firm of Barnes, Dennig & and David works for Greenlon as manager of the commercial division. They reside in Cincinnati, Ohio. Lucinda Green'92 and Andy Fleming were married July 31, 1999 in Urbana, Ohio. Several Cedarville alumni participated in and attended the wedding. Lucinda is an administrative assistant at a church and directs the class plays at a local high school. The couple resides in Bellefontaine, Ohio. Matt Gilson '93 and Jennifer Kriley were married May 8, 1999 in Butler, Pennsylvania. Matt is a programmer analyst for Western Southern Life Insurance Co., and Jennifer is employed at IMC Mortgage. They live in Cincinnati, Ohio. Daniel Brown '94N and Connie Garver were married May 8, 1999 at Wayside Chapel in Bucyrus, Ohio. Krista Ryan'96 and David Rodgers were married August 1, 1998 in Toledo, Ohio. They both teach at Santiago Christian School in the Dominican Republic, where they met three years ago. Rachel Henricks'97 and Caleb Jones were married May 29, 1999.They reside in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Samantha Sternad'97 and Steve Ables were married May 16, 1999. They have made their home in Columbus, Ohio. Renee Tuinstra'97 and Michael Trexler were married June 26, 1999 in South Haven, Michigan. They enjoyed a honeymoon in Grand Lake, Colorado. Renee is a homemaker, and Michael is a doctor of internal medicine at Wright Patterson Medical Center on Wright Patterson Air Force Base. They reside in Dayton, Ohio. Kevin Armstrong'98 and Anna Harlan'98 were married May 22, 1999. They reside in Wooster, Ohio. David Rooke'98 and Heather Wright were married July 17, 1999 at Hershey Free Church in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Many Cedarville alumni participated in the wedding. After a honeymoon in San Diego, California, they have made their home in Bakersfield, California. David works in the sales department at Wm.Bolthouse Farms, Inc., and Heather teaches junior high art classes. They are active in the Laurelglen Bible Church, and both enjoy coaching sports. Stacy Saville'98 and Joel Slanker were I married May 29, 1999 in Dayton, Ohio. Many Cedarville alumni participated in the wedding. After a honeymoon in Ocho Rios, Jamaica,the couple has settled in West Chester, Ohio. Stacy is the company manager of The Human Race Theatre Company in Dayton. She recently performed Kate in The Taming ofthe Shrew for Shakespeare & Co. and is currently touring as Juliet in Romeo and Juliet for The Human Race Theatre Co. Joel is studying technical theatre production at the Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music. Joseph Beyer'99 and Valerie Smith '99 were married July 24, 1999.They live in Rochester, New York, where Joseph works with an investment firm, and Valerie works at a law office. Tom Mullins'99 and Amanda Bruckner'98 were married August 29, 1998 at Beulah Missionary Church in Goshen, Indiana. They have made their home in Portage, Indiana, where Tom is the youth pastor at Central Baptist Church, and Amanda has a piano studio in their home. Tom Sanderson'99 and Cindy Wren'99 were married August 14, 1999 at Calvary Baptist Church in Joliet, Illinois. They are living in Lisle, Illinois, where they are computer consultants. Jonathan Hill'OON and Kristy Griffith '96 were married August 22, 1998 and honeymooned in Hilton Head,South Carolina.
