Inspire, Winter 2000
Inspire 15 ~Singing and speaking: I find it exhilarating to share what God has taught me and see it help others in spite of my failures and weaknesses. ~Church: I really love people. I love helping and caring. The family of God is a beautiful thing! I: Which song of yours is most dear to your heart? Deb: Probably the song that is continuing to challenge me is “My Ministry is You:” It’s so easy to look outside And feel there must be more Than staying home with young ones Playing on the floor. This world keeps telling me Staying home is not for you But in my heart I’m learning What God wants me to do. For this special time in my life My ministry is you Though so many things pull on my heart My ministry is you. So all of this world can wait While I give myself to you Because you only stay young for a little while My ministry is you. It’s a privilege to love And teach you every day Even good things are bad If they take me away From this time I have with you To lead you in God’s ways To help you love and serve Him all of your days. I know that I’m your only mother And these days we have together are few So in this fleeting and precious time My life is devoted to you. Making a warm and loving home is a critical ministry. Modeling the truth, teaching the precious Word of God to her children, and honoring her husband are among the most noble things any woman can do. It’s not just the radio preachers or famous writers or presidents or inventors who make a difference in the world. It’s the faithful workers in the home who, day after day, faithfully do their job to raise the next generation. Home is a ministry and I’m glad I’m there.
