Between the ages of 25 & 60? 2. Worried about having sufficient retirement income? 3. Worried about paying for your children’s education? Do you want to… 1. Reduce your taxes? 2. Create guaranteed retirement or educational income beginning at a specific date? 3. Help CU students? A flexible deferred gift annuity is an exciting gift opportunity for younger alumni who want to help Cedarville University and create income for their lifetime. With this option, alumni can make gifts to Cedarville, receive significant, immediate tax deductions, and provide for their family’s future with retirement or educational income. A flexible deferred gift annuity works especially well for people between the ages of 25 and 60 because their payout rate increases with each year they choose to defer income. Individuals commonly choose to defer income until retirement when they need the additional money and are in a lower income tax bracket. Parents also frequently choose to use the future income for their children’s educational expenses. Although their income stream from Cedarville begins later, donors receive an immediate charitable income tax deduction, typically 45 to 65 percent the amount of the donation. For example, if a 40-year-old alumna makes a $5,000 gift through a deferred gift annuity, she can receive a 26.4 percent payout, or $1,320 per year, from Cedarville beginning at age 65. This income will continue throughout her lifetime. She also receives a charitable income tax deduction of $3,091, which she can use in the year she makes the gift or carry over for five additional years. Additionally, if she uses appreciated assets such as securities, she can realize a savings on her capital gains taxes. For more information about a deferred gift annuity or other life income gifts, please contact Dave or Kim in the gift planning office. We will provide a personal financial analysis of life income gift options, and, of course, there is no obligation. The Career Services Department (CSD) has relocated to the Stevens Student Center and is enjoying the new facilities and opportunities afforded as a result. The new office triples the size of the former and now features an interview room, video conferencing facilities, and 18 flat- screen computers. The 2000-2001 series of Career Link Days kicked off with a record 23 companies in attendance for the Engineering, Math, and Science Day. CSD expanded to state and national levels as they hosted the Ohio Criminal Justice Fair on October 20 and the conference for the National Christian College Coalition of Career Services on November 9-11. In an attempt to increase student services, the office doubled the number of student workers, created new methods of follow-up, and launched a new marketing campaign featuring the success of both alumni and current students.
