Inspire 21 Alumni Events September 14 – 2nd Generation Dinner On Friday evening of Getting Started Weekend, the Alumni Association welcomed returning alumni who were bringing their children to CU as students. Although the dinner was brief so that the families could attend the special patriotic service and time of prayer for our nation, the fellowship was fitting and sweet. September 15 – Cincinnati, Ohio While students returned to the ’Ville for another year, an 18-hole golf scramble at G.E. Park in Cincinnati brought out approximately 30 alumni and friends. Jeff Brock ’84, development officer, hosted the event. September 22-25 – Washington, D.C. Lew Gibbs, director of career services, made a trip to Washington, D.C. and was able to connect with many alumni who live and work in that area. While there, lunch was scheduled at Tortilla Coast for a group of alumni on “the Hill,” and there were several other get-togethers around town. October 5 – Beijing, China While in China teaching a graduate class at a teachers’ convention for international school teachers, Dr. Phil Bassett had dinner in Beijing with 21 Cedarville alumni. The meal was followed by a time of fellowship and singing. The alums, about two-thirds of whom are teacher education program graduates, live and work in China. October 6 – Los Angeles, California Michael Dorsey ’00, coordinator of intercultural recruitment, traveled to the Los Angeles area and shared a time of fellowship with eight alumni and friends. November 1 – Gulf Shores, Alabama Lambert’s Café, “The Only Home of Throwed Rolls,” was the location of this Cedarville University alumni event. A total of 10 alumni and friends from southern Alabama and western Florida met to share old stories, hear the latest CU news, have a great time of food and fellowship, and even catch a few rolls! November 3 – Chicago, Illinois Dr. Dixon added dinner with approximately 60 Cedarville alumni and friends to his schedule while speaking at Harvest Bible Church in Rolling Meadows, Illinois. The dinner, hosted by Sherri Watson Smith ’86, was the perfect lead-in to Dr. Dixon’s evening message.
