Inspire 5 Director’s Chair Homecoming 2003 is a memory. For many, that memory includes seeing old friends, becoming reacquainted with Cedarville University, meeting our new president, and remembering the “good ol’ days.” For others, there’s a wistfulness that accompanies the inability to participate in Homecoming on campus. A few of you may feel a sense of indifference (and that’s OK … I know that Homecoming may not be for everybody!) However, when you think about Homecoming … going back to a place that held importance in your life … you probably can’t help but think about those youthful dreams you held dear as a student. While at Cedarville, you may have determined that you would be the person to find a cure for cancer or help open the doors to a country closed to the gospel. Perhaps you were challenged to live a life of passion for Christ or take a step of faith in following a new path. In the musical Les Miserables , Fantine sings, “I dreamed a dream in days gone by,” and the song concludes, “Now life has killed the dream I dreamed.”What happened to your dreams? Are you living them out or did they fall by the wayside? Has God replaced your dream with HIS dream…something even better than you could have ever imagined? Or, is it time to dust off those old dreams and find out if God is still asking you to pursue them? This edition of Inspire includes stories of dreamers. People with big dreams, small dreams … God’s dreams. As you read these stories, I hope that you will be challenged to continue to dream and to renew your passion for living the dream God has for you.
