Inspire, Winter 2007

16Winter 2007 Feature : BIBLE DEPARTMENT Bible is the hallmark of a Cedarville education. The emphasis on knowing and applying the Scriptures is reinforced in chapels, integrated into every academic discipline, and built upon the six-course Bible minor required of all students. Our Bible faculty, who are prepared by their education and enriched through their ministry experience, are equipping leaders for the next generation. A first for buildings on Cedarville’s campus, the Center for Biblical and Theological Studies will visually present the theme “I Am the Light of the World.” This theme will be seen through a variety of elements in the architectural design, including words of Scripture etched on the glass in the impressive atrium and commissioned artwork in reflective spaces. Another unique design feature will be the blending of the contemporary with the historical. This center will clearly convey the relevance of Scripture in today’s world, while affirming the historical significance of the Word of God. This concept will be highlighted with plasma screens featuring the continuous reading of Scripture alongside displays of ancient biblical texts. We rejoice in the opportunity to build a facility that will enhance the quality and scope of Bible instruction at Cedarville University. The Center for Biblical and Theological Studies will attract students to Cedarville who are interested in ministry and provide the technology and spaces to match the excellent Bible education our students receive. Ultimately, the Center will expand our services to churches across the nation by equipping believers for local church and cross-cultural ministries. The Center for Biblical and Theological Studies “This new building will demonstrate the centrality of Scripture here at Cedarville. It will not only be a wonderful place to foster biblical learning, but will also be a symbol of our commitment to theWord of God.” —Dr. Preston Sprinkle, Assistant Professor of Bible
