24Winter 2007 alumnotes 1960s Marv ’65 and Joan Carter Stephens ’65 have been deeply encouraged by the support they have received during Joan’s recent struggle with cancer. Please continue to pray for her. They are thankful that the Theological Curriculum Program is progressing well. In fact, a Mexican pastor used these materials for a college-level hermeneutics course in Chile. Joyce Rudduck ’66 continues her translating work on the Christian education courses in Bangladesh and is rejoicing that it is close to completion. She was able to interpret during a counseling seminar this fall, which was the first time she had interpreted for something other than a simple testimony. Although it took a lot of preparation, she is thankful that the Lord enabled her. Mark ’67 and Beth Ziegler Trimble ’67 are currently on home assignment in Springfield, Ohio. They praise God for the many lives that have been touched in Brazil over the years. Pray that the work would continue while they are gone and that the financial need for the Seminary Academic Center would be met. Dan Brower ’68 would like to thank all of the people who have prayed for him and his family during the home-going of his wife, Nancy. He knows that this has helped him to have a cheerful outlook on the future. Dan has returned to Brazil, where he has had several opportunities to share his faith to those who loved Nancy. Pray that Dan will have the wisdom he needs and ready answers for those who have been touched. Nancy Towle Jones ’69 and her husband, Roy, rejoice that their church in Coslada has a true desire to serve the Lord. Nancy enjoys working with the children on Sundays and during special activities. Please pray with them for an improvement in their financial situation. 1970s Barb Cooper Klumpp ’74 and her husband, Phil, are teaching at a seminary in the Philippines until March. Their return to the Philippines is enabling them to evaluate the situation for possible return without terminating their ministries in Pennsylvania. Jim ’75 and Rachel Mayo Chambers ’78 are on home assignment from Zambia. They have been blessed by the outpouring of encouragement and support they have received since arriving stateside. Pray that they will be refreshed while in the States. Debbie Banks Donough ’75 and her husband, Dave, celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary on November 20, 2006, on the island of Aruba. This was a much-anticipated trip and their first time out of the country. They have been blessed with four children, ages 21 through 28, and four grandchildren. Debbie is in her 28th year at Temple Christian in Mansfield, Ohio, where she teaches high school English and directs the secondary vocal groups. Dave is a shop foreman, but his passion is running their small farm, a venture they enjoy together. Marty ’78 and Denise Gawthrop Shaw ’78 praise God that He keeps opening doors of ministry in places they weren’t expecting. They are enjoying the adventuresome and surprising ride of their lives in Singapore! They are thankful that they have found a new place to live and that their visas were renewed. Elaine Gregory ’79 has joined the faculty at Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, New York. She earned her doctorate from Syracuse University and served as the physical education program coordinator there for 15 years. She holds the same position at Roberts. Mark ’79 and Debbie Hall Seymour ’83 realize that it was truly by God’s grace that they could go back to the African country Chad this past summer. Mark is the director of a theological school, a job that entails a tremendous amount of organization. He is also teaching four Bible classes. 1980s Miriam Pressau Hixon ’83 appreciates the encouragement and support she has received from friends after the unexpected home-going of her husband, Jeffrey, in a farm accident on September 26, 2007. Rhoda Sommers ’84 and David Johnson were married August 11, 2007. Rhoda is an associate professor of education at Malone College, and David is a self-employed certified financial planner. They reside in Canton, Ohio. David Snyder ’85 and his wife, Pamela, announce the birth of Arrington (Ari) R. Snyder on June 26, 2007. David and Pamela were married October 29, 2005, in Fairfax, Virginia, and enjoyed a honeymoon in Ireland. David is a partner with a CPA firm in Syracuse, New York, where he has worked since graduation. They are members of New Testament Baptist Church and reside in Jamestown, New York. Talitha Bosworth Long ’88 and her husband, David, announce the birth of Matthew Jacob on December 4, 2005. Big brother Levi (8) was excited about him joining the family in Xenia, Ohio. He is also loved by his uncle and aunt, Tim ’71 and Rita Deatly Bosworth ’71 . Kelley Gill Anderson ’89 is an elementary counselor with the Sugarcreek Local School District in Bellbrook, Ohio. Prior to this she was a counselor for the Xenia Community School System. She will now be working in the same building with her husband, Scott, who teaches fifth grade and coaches high school football in Bellbrook. Kelley and Scott have a son, Austin (9), and a daughter, Avery (7). They reside in Xenia and attend Grace Baptist Church in Cedarville. 1990s Bobby ’90 and Sara Sweetland Hile ’92 praise the Lord for a great week of Holiday Bible Club in South Africa. God did some great things in the lives of the kids and also in their church family. Please pray that a decision would be made regarding their current and future church meeting place. David ’90 and Kim Shaffer Hoecke ’95 welcomed Lauren Nicole into their family on June 28, 2007. She joins sister Jadyn (2). Dave works for the production services group at Cedarville University, and Kim is enjoying staying home with the girls. They live in Jamestown, Ohio. Shelly Lemponen Krull ’90 and her husband, William, announce the birth of Jordan Matthew on September 12, 2007. He was welcomed home by his siblings, Jared (6) and Allison (5), in Columbus, Ohio. William works in production at the Original Mattress Factory, and Shelly enjoys being a stay‑at‑home mom and homeschooling Jared. Dawn Smith Monzon ’90 and her husband, Juan, announce the birth of Alicia Anahi on August 22, 2007. She joins her siblings, Wesley (13), Ashley (12), and Jessica (9). After a year furlough in Tyler, Texas, the family is back in Paraguay. After nine years of teaching, Dawn is in her third year as the academic director at Asunción Christian Academy. She received her educational science degree in educational leadership from Liberty University in May 2007, and is now pursuing her doctorate in education. Paul ’91 and Jennifer Horne Morse ’96 announce the birth of Rebecca Elisabeth. She was born January 4, 2007, and joins her siblings, Lesley (4) and Shaun (2), in Beavercreek, Ohio. Paul is a pharmaceutical sales representative, and Jennifer is a tutor and teaches online while staying home with the children. Lori Lindner French ’92 and her husband, Dave, are excited to be serving at Faith Academy in the Philippines, where so many Christian workers can send their children for an international Christian education. They praise the Lord for the many years of faithful partners who have given sacrificially, but they are now facing a need due to the decreasing value of the American dollar. Steve ’92 and Gail Currall Jones ’94 announce the birth of Vanessa Rose on January 12, 2007. She is truly a miracle baby, as they struggled for many years desiring to have children. They are so thankful for this blessing. They live in Mason, Ohio, and Steve works at Kimmey Plumbing Company. Gail worked in the financial services industry for 13 years and worked part time for five months after having Vanessa, but she is now happy to be a full-time mom.
