Centennial Library 2019-2020 Annual Report
Research Carrel Survey In January 2020, we surveyed past users of library research carrels to evaluate if we are using these carrels as effectively as possible. Respondents reported that the carrels were extremely helpful for the work necessary to complete major research projects by providing a secure place to store materials and a productive private space for research and writing. Patrons reported using the carrels frequently throughout the semester, but we noted that carrels were in use for only a fraction of the time the library was open. We also noted that we could improve student awareness of the carrels as a resource, but our current reservation system limits use to a maximum of 9 patrons per semester. Develop a plan for converting the carrels to open reservations while providing a limited reservation solution for storage of physical research materials.
