Centennial Library E-News, September/October 2021

The Digital Commons is the online digital archive of the scholarship, creative works, and historical record of Cedarville University. In 2020-21, Digital Commons materials were downloaded over 500,000 times worldwide and the repository itself had over 100,000 unique visitors, of which 78% were new users. This culminated on June 30, when Digital Commons celebrated the 2 millionth download from its repository - a senior Linguistics capstone project entitled “What Did God Say? A Critical Analysis of Dynamic Equivalence Theory.” Digital Commons includes over 54,000 items, consisting of faculty, staff, and student scholarship, archival recordings and images, athletics records and videos, Cedarville journals, and more. DIGITAL COMMONS PUBLISHING CORNER Centennial Library interns participate in a variety of activities which give them an overview of academic library operations, as well as the broader library field. These experiences help them to determine if a library career and graduate school for the Master of Library & Information Science degree is a good fit for their skills and interests. The 2021 interns are (from left to right) English majors Katie Korwan and Elly McGillivray Watkins, History major Katie Gosman, and English major Grace Kohler. The instructor is Julie Deardorff, assisted by all of the Library staff and librarians. The 3-credit internship course is offered in cooperation with the Department of English, Literature & Modern Languages.
