In order to qualify for the match, an alumnus must make a gift to the College for the Library during 1986, or notify the College in 1986 of an intention to give during 1987. Both 1986 gifts and commitments for 1987 giving will be matched on a dollar-for-dollar basis in 1986, up to a total of $150,000 . The College is grateful to these friends, who prefer to remain anonymous, for their devotion to Cedarville's ministries and for their confidence in our alumni. Interested alumni should contact the Alumni Office on campus as soon as possible to participate in this exciting opportunity. Tax Reform and Christian Stewardship Most of the supporters of Christian ministries such as Cedarville College contribute because of their love for Jesus Christ and their belief in the value of the ministries - not because of tax advantages. However, stewardship planning usually involves considering the tax consequences of gifts and can affect both the amount and the timing of gifts. Donors may wish to consult with their attorneys and tax advisors about how the new tax law will treat their giving. Some may benefit by giving gifts in 1986 they had planned to give in 1987. The funding of charitable remainder trusts, lead trusts, gift annuities, or pooled income funds may be particularly attractive in 1986. Giving appreciated properties could be more advantageous this year than next. For assistance and ideas in planning 1986 giving, please contact the Development Office at Cedarville College, 5131766-2211 ext. 240. 15
