.. Engineering Teams Capture Padnos Awards C edarville is the only school in the country to place twice at the annual Padnos Design Competition for environmentally responsible engineering. In 1995, a senior design engineering team won the grand prize for their project, a collapsible truck wind deflector. Dr. Harwood Hegna, associate professor of mechanical engineering, was their faculty advisor. This year's team was advised by Dr. Lawrence Zavodney (right), associate professor of mechanical engineering and chair of the Elmer W. Engstrom Department of Engineering. Team members David Preston (left) and Eric O' Brien received honorable mention behind two grand prize winners for the supermileage engine design. New Faculty Bring Expertise F ifteen new faculty joined the college family for the 1996-97 academic year: Gregory Belliveau, instructor of English; Judith Boddy, assistant professor of library science; Terry Chamberlain, assistant professor of art; Teresa Clark, assistant professor of health and physical education and women ' s head volleyball coach; Dr. Donald Deardorff, assistant professor of English; Julie Deardorff, assistant professor of library science; Dr. Timothy Dewhurst, associate professor of mechanical engineering; Carol Estes, assistant professor of education; Dr. Mark McClain, assistant professor of chemistry; r Carol Opperman, assistant professor of education; Dr. Jeffrey Shortt, assistant professor of electrical engineering; Dr. David Smith, assistant professor of geography; Dr. Dennis Sullivan, instructor of biology; Dr. Vernon Whaley, associate professor of church music; and James Wolf, assistant professor of computer information systems. Minute Ministry To Churches The CDR Radio Network offers a new program, "A Minute for the Church," six days a week. The format focuses on issues related to local churches, local church ministries, and the individual's relationship with his or her church. Dr. David Drullinger, associate professor of Bible at Cedarville College, writes and presents each message. Currently, 59 radio stations are carrying the program which was formerly a ministry of Chapel of the Air.
