THE DIXON MI Trustees Pay Tribute to Dixons As part of the annual Homecoming activities on October 18 and 19, approximately 2,000 alumni, friends , and trustees joined students to celebrate God 's provision of The Ministry Center and to dedicate it for His use. During the dedication service, the Board of Trustees honored Dr. Paul and Pat Dixon for the scope of their service to Cedarville and named the entire facility The Dixon Ministry Center. Dr. Dixon is in his 19th year as president; Mrs. Dixon recently retired after 25 years of teaching in the College's Department of Language and Literature. During Dr. Dixon's administration, Cedarville has seen its emollment more than double, many academic programs enhanced or added, and new facilities built. The Board of Trustees, however, unanimously believed that The Ministry Center reflected the essense of Cedarville which Dr. and Mrs. Dixon have championed since he became president: the importance of meeting as a College family every day, the drive to share God 's message through evangelism and live that message by serving others, the desire to see that students are prepared to serve in their local churches, and the unremitting challenge for academic excellence. Dr. William Rudd , chairman of the Board of Trustees and pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Muskegon, Michigan , announced, "Since this facility reflects the priorities of Cedarville College, and since Dr. and Mrs . Dixon have exemplified and continue to exemplify these priorities, this facility shall hereafter be known as The Dixon Ministry Center." Others Honored During Building Dedication James T. and Ruby Jeremiah The Board of Trustees fittingly named the new chapel auditorium, The Jeremiah Chapel, honoring James T. Jeremiah and his deceased wife, Ruby, for their years of service to the College. Dr. Jeremiah served as president from 1953 to 1978 and continues as chancellor. Much of Ruby ' s service focu sed on married students and is memorialized by a scholarship given each year to a married woman student. Cedarville College is deeply grateful for this couple who labored together for the Lord for 55 years until He called Ruby home in 1991. 8 Torch William and Nora Bolthouse The wing housing the Department of Music was named The Bolthouse Center for Music in honor of William and Nora Bolthouse of Bakersfield, California. Mr. Bolthouse leads Wm. Bolthouse Farms, Inc., a world leader in carrot production. Mrs. Bolthouse has influenced the lives of her children and grandchildren for the Lord, as well as many others, through her exemplary prayer life and her coaching of Bible quiz teams in their church. Mr. and Mrs. Bolthouse model traits held in high esteem by Cedarville and the Department of Music. On October 7 faculty, staff, and students– walked from the previous chapel auditoriu Jeremiah Chapel. It was the first time in al the entire college family could meet for a c single location. Robert and Polly Reese The Reese Center for Christian Ministries, home to the College' s Division of Christian Ministries, was named in honor of Bob and Polly Reese of Elkhart, Indiana. Bob helped found Reese Products, Inc., a premiere manufacturer of trailer hitches and other equipment. Polly is a career wife, mother, and grandmother.
