10 i! I'm Lisa Ramsey, a senior Speech Communi– cations major from East Moline, Illinois . During my four years at Cedarville, I have had some fantastic op– portunities to serve the Lord in the area of Christian ser– vice. Before coming to Cedarville , I had no idea of the broad range of ministries that the Christian Service De– partment offers to the students. During my freshman year, I was involved in working with high-school age kids at a nearby orphanage. I also worked on a Campus Evangelism team . We went to a large university and shared our faith. In my sophomore year, I went to the Dayton Detention Home every Sun– day morning with about ten other Cedarville students . We held a church service for young people 8 to 18 years old and were able to later present the gospel on an indi– vidual basis. During my spring break , I went with the Beach Evangelism team to Ft. Lauderdale , Florida, to witness for nine days on the beach . The following sum– mer, I was accepted by the Missionary Internship Com– mittee to travel with an evangelistic singing team to the continent of Australia. What a privilege! We toured five and one-half weeks, working with national pastors and missionaries, singing in churches, schools, shop– ping centers, parks, and rest homes-anywhere we could present the gospel. Last year I had the privilege of being involved in a discipleship program at Wittenberg University . What a blessing it was to help young Christians grow in the Lord. During spring break last year, I traveled with a team of 12 to Austin, Texas, to work with ABWE mis– sionaries in a church-planting ministry. And , by the time this TORCH is published, I will have spent the 1981 spring break with the Austin, Texas, team. Then , last summer, I traveled with the Summer Swordbearers team for ten weeks in a varied ministry working in camps and churches , doing seminars, puppet pro– grams, and concerts. Soon, I'll be graduating. The broad spectrum of op– portunities I've had for Christian service at Cedarville has allowed me to work in many diverse ministries. I'm so thankful for these four years. ... , usyness" does not constitute spirituality! And yet , neither does being a spiritual spectator. My name is David Merkh , and I believe Cedarville College stands firmly committed to the participator model. This means being busy academically as well as being a spiritual par– ticipator. During my years at the college , I have been allowed by God to minister in a wide spectrum of Christian ser– vices. During my freshman year, I taught Sunday School at the Ohio Veterans' Children ' s Home, a foster home. I was also privileged to belong to the soccer and baseball teams , which have provided me with numer– ous opportunities to witness to opponents through tract ministries, conversation, and occasional chapel servi– ces . I visited the Ivory Coast and Liberia with the soccer team where we confronted over 16,000 people with the good news of Jesus Christ through testimony , message, and song. During my sophomore year and in the years follow– ing, I had the responsibility of being a Personnel Assis– tant in the dormitory; I worked with the Cincinnati Rescue Mission , and led an extension team to a local church for a brief period of time. The Lord provided me with the thrilling opportunity during a spring break to work with church planters in Austin , Texas . The fol– lowing summer gave me further exposure to missions, this time with missionaries in Brazil. Finally, during this my senior year, the Lord has al– lowed me to teach and preach the Word of God on cam– pus and in local churches. I am planning to attend Dal– las Theological Seminary and eventually, Lord willing, I want to serve on the mission field. The Lord has used Cedarville College to expand my vision for the work of the ministry throughout the world , and to focus my sight on the work that needs to be done in my own back yard. The command has been given; opportunities abound for those being equipped to do the work. Will we be spectators or participators? I've made my choice-have you?
