8 Witnessing-Everyone's Business H ow do you make a living? Is your work in God's perfect will? If the latter question can be answered affir– matively, then your vocation constitutes a calling from God, and there is not a more important place in the world for you to be. Your vocation must be your minis– try, and that means being a witness for Jesus Christ. It only stands to reason that God would not require so much time each day- 8 hours of work, 2 hours of prepa– ration and traveling time- to satisfy our physical needs only. I believe that in most cases we are far too con– cerned with making a living and are not as concerned with allowing God to use our vocations as an avenue of witness for Himself. If you were to walk into the lobby of Kauffman Products, the first thing that you would see is a sign in bold white letters with these words : "This business is dedicated to bring honor and glory to Jesus Christ." It all started a little over eight years ago when Kauff– man Products placed an advertisement in a Christian by Reese Kauffman high school yearbook . At that time, we did not have a lobby; but a copy of the yearbook was placed on the bot– tom shelf of a magazine table in our general office where salesmen sat while waiting to see me. On numer– ous occasions , a salesman would come into my office after looking at the yearbook and ask what connection I had with this Christian school. Naturally, this gave me an opportunity to witness . As the Scriptures continued to impress upon my heart the need for my complete dependence upon God for business, I had a sign painted that stated, "GOD IS MY SOURCE." I placed this sign on the wall directly be– hind my desk as a constant reminder to myself. It also became an additional method for opening a discussion on spiritual matters and testifying for the Lord. Prayer is the most effective tool that I use for witness– .ing through my vocation. I discovered several years ago that if I ask God in the morning for an open-door oppor– tunity to witness and minister during the day, someone 1
