Romans 3:10-11 As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God.” Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 10:9-13 That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, “Anyone who trusts in Him will never be put to shame.” For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on Him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Godspeed! 2 TORCH / Spring 2004 ngaging our culture with the heart and mind of Jesus Christ is our charge. Lifting up the name of Jesus Christ and declaring his gospel to a hurt and dying world is our responsibility. Preparing young people to utilize their skills and talents in that task, whether it be in the arts, the business world, or in vocational ministry, is our passion at Cedarville University. This is my last official word as vice president for development at CU. I leave this place and move on to my new position with joy and great appreciation for the 30 years in which God has allowed me to be a part of CU’s history. If someone had told me those many years ago that this institution, with its few facilities, small student body, and meager resources, would develop into the world-class, widely-respected national institution of Christian higher education that it is today, I’m not sure I would have believed them. But God has seen fit to shower tremendous blessing on Cedarville University. We have been blessed by more than 50 years of great presidential leadership from James T. Jeremiah and Paul Dixon. And we are experiencing God’s blessing again in the person and leadership of Bill Brown. I believe with all my heart and soul that the best days of Cedarville University are still ahead. I am excited to see what God has in store. But I am even more content in knowing that my role here is complete. I have finished my course at CU. With heartfelt gratitude for all you have done for Cedarville University and the thousands of students who have passed through our campus over the past 30 years, I bid you Godspeed.
