I DR. JEREMIAH HONORED The end of an era is always accom– panied by a degree of uncertainty. These are times when that which has been well known is replaced by that which is less known . Those who have grown accustomed to the past view the future with anticipation and con– cern . Thus it was with a sense of sincere gratitude mixed with expectancy that Dr. James T. Jeremiah was honored at the 1978 commencement exercises of Cedarville College. Appreciation was expressed by many for the twenty-five years of leadership that preceded Dr. Jeremiah's appointment to be the Chancellor of Cedarville College. At the Friday evening graduation banquet, bound volumes were presented to Dr. Jeremiah. They con – tained letters of praise and thanksgiv– ing from hundreds of students, Chris– tian leaders, and alumni from around the world. The baccalaureate message by Rev. Paul Dixon, who will assume the presidency in September, provided an appropriate analysis of the past, present, and future of Cedarville Col– lege's unique place in the field of Christian education . Rev. Dixon spoke of Dr. Jeremiah's life-long interest in presenting the Gospel to those who are without Christ. He delcared that evangelism will continue to be a primary emphasis at Cedarville College. A firm Biblical foundation has been provided. There will be no change. THE JAMES T. JEREMIAH CHAPEL The Cedarville College trustees have announced the naming of the new college chapel in honor of Dr. James T. Jeremiah as a tribute to his firm defense of the college's doctrinal position as well as his deep concern for the spiritual growth of students. The announcement was made at the June commencement exercises. Trustee Chairman Dale Murphy expressed appreciation for the presi– dent's faithful service and unveiled a portrait of Dr. Jeremiah which will be permanently displayed in the chapel. Jeremiah Chapel on the campus of Cedarville College. ) r Mrs. Jody Grosh presented Dr. Jeremiah with his own president's award announcing the establish– ment of a scholarship fund for the future recipients of the PRESI– DENT'S TROPHY. 9
