. - ------------ ------ . . 1 CONTENTS / "The Lord is gracious and full of compassion" (Psalm 111 :4). By one mighty act of love, He opened the door to Heaven for us– that we might be with Him forever. And while He loves us, He also is holy and just, and we are accountable to Him. The Bible tells us that we all have sinned and fallen short of God's holy standard for us. A standard that demands complete obedience to His Word. A standard that none of us can attain, because by nature we would rather run our own lives. There is only one way to find forgiveness for our sin and to have a relationship with God. You see, the Bible says that because of our sin we deserve death-eternal death, which means eternal separation from God, in the Lake of Fire. But God in His mercy and compassion did a wonderful thing. "God showed His love for us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8). What does that mean, Christ died for us? The Bible says that Jesus Christ came as the perfect, sinless man to take the death penalty that we deserve for our sin. Then He rose from the dead as proof that He Is God and that He has forgiven our sin. We can stand before God, freed from the death penalty our sin deserves. He has forgiven us, not because of any great thing that we did, but because of what Jesus Christ, through His compassion, did for us. We can know that we are forgiven and have eternal life. Here and now, we can live a life of joy, knowing we belong to Christ. And when we die, we know we will go to be with Him in person, because of what He did. All that remains for you to do is to believe...believe what the Bible says about God, about Christ, about you. As you understand what God did for you, will you turn from your sin and self-centeredness? Will you turn your life over to Him?
