I 1· CEDARVILLE COLLEGE PRESENTS TO JOHN W. BERRY The Medal Of Honor 0 n June 8, 1996, John W. Berry Sr. received the prestigious Cedarville College Medal of Honor. Presented during commencement, the award recognizes Mr. Berry's "dedication to Cedarville College and to the principles of liberty held dear by freedom loving Americans." The citation goes on to say, "Mr. Berry is a champion of free enterprise. He is well-known and widely regarded for his conservative political views, and his counsel is regularly sought by Republican leaders at the highest levels ." Mr. Berry served as chairman and CEO of Loren M. Berry & Co. from 1973 to 1987 - a time of growth and expansion. L.M. Berry & Co., an advertising company founded by his father, was best known as the originator of the yellow pages. Under the leadership of both father and son, the company was characterized by a deep commitment to the Dayton, Ohio area- home for their business . That commitment was evidenced by the participation of their executives on area boards and civic organizations, as well as the philanthropy of The Loren M. Berry Foundation. Although Mr. Berry is retired from business, he continues to be very active with his holding company, Berry Investments, Inc., and the Loren M. Berry Foundation. Cedarville College is honored by and grateful for the involvement and advocacy of John W. Berry.
