Romans 3:10-11 As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God.” Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 10:9-13 That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, “Anyone who trusts in Him will never be put to shame.” For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on Him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” F amily Forefront at the e take the opportunity to affect the lives of the young people who attend Cedarville University very seriously. We know that this opportunity is a fleeting one that carries lasting value. That is why we intentionally seek to create a family atmosphere on campus. Whether it is a by-product of the residence life programs, fallout from the multitude of campus activities planned, or the residual effects of the common ground of our shared faith, our campus culture is one that emphasizes mutual respect and support. This is the mechanism by which we hope to help students gain “friends for life.” Most alumni would agree that Cedarville is a family-friendly place. Many think of their fellow alumni and former teachers, advisors, and other campus support-team members as their extended family. Isn’t that the way it should be? As Christians, we are all members of God’s family—the “forever family.” Treating one another with the love and respect family members—especially God’s family members—deserve should be a visible component of our everyday faith walk. That’s what John meant when he wrote: “By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:35). We’ve spent the 2000-2001 academic year pursuing our theme of “Rediscovering God’s Plan for the Family.” It’s been especially gratifying to watch our students, faculty, and staff as they rediscovered God’s plan for the Cedarville family. We’ve gained a renewed vision of how we are each charged with the responsibility to support one another and a renewed appreciation for how blessed we are to be a part of the Cedarville family. We’re glad you are a part of the family, too! Dr. Carl A. Ruby Vice President for Student Services Cedarville University W
